Taking the +2 in 40 mins. +4 puts me at 12:45am....you're saying I need to be up for that? I totally will...was just hoping I could sleep...haha! :)

It's not a definite that you'll have to stay up that late, but I can't rule it out as a possibility until we know where she's likely to go on this cycle. Most of us find that taking a nap in between tests gets easier as time goes on so we're not quite so sleep-deprived, especially if our cats start earning reductions every few days!

I'm such a novice with the terminology...earning reductions? As in...smaller doses?

That's exactly right, yes. Sometimes, a cat can come down the doses fairly quickly...every 3 or 4 days in some cases. When that happens, although it's really good news, it can get to be very tiring very quickly. Even a 45 minute nap can save your sanity at that point!

    How's this for sleep deprivation....I thought I was doing a +2....it was +2.5...and it was 123. So...higher dose than last night...her # was 1 point higher...and I tested 45 minutes later than last night.

That is a fairly significant drop percentage-wise from her pre-shot. Hopefully she'll do the same as last night and level out, but I would get another test in an hour to make sure she's not still dropping.

What's interesting to me is that the drop was less than last night on a higher dose?
Will get a 1 hour reading in 35 mins. :)

That can happen - the insulin is used slightly differently each time. Because it's a hormone rather than a direct-acting drug like an antibiotic, the way each cat uses the same dose on each cycle can be a little different. It's not really anything to worry about, just something to be aware of. :)

No worries - it's only 10pm here!! She's going to be fine I'm sure - she's not dropping all that quickly, but if you're worried you could set an alarm for around +5 and get a nap for an hour.

Sounds good to me - she's surfing nicely. She might dip into high greens, but I don't think she's going to drop much further tonight. :) Time for you to get some sleep! :)

Looking great - she seems fairly level on her numbers at the moment. It sounds as though she had a good night - she's come back up fairly gently for her AMPS and that 225 is a nice number to shoot...not so low you have to worry too much and not really high either. :)

Awesome! :) That's a really nice mid-cycle number and nicely down from her pre-shot too. :)

It makes me feel like a million bucks!!!! Thanks to @manxcat419 and @BJM !!!!! You two saved her life and gave me peace of mind! I know we're not out of the woods...but she's not getting too much insulin...thank God!!!!
Would also like to note...although she still drinks a fair amount of water her urine output is SIGNIFICANTLY less!!!! :) Thanks again!!! :)
Also a big thanks to @Louellen
    & @Shiloh & Rhonda !

She's doing really well Kate and so are you. She might need a tiny bit more insulin to get her to the point where she starts earning reductions, but she's looking really good just the same. :) And I'm so glad to hear that her secondary signs are still good - it's great to hear that she must be feeling good in herself. :)

She is doing great! I think you're ready to post in the Lantus/Levemir group. Take a look around there and see what you think.

Alternatively, you can start posting in Feline Health
