    :otj: ???

I think it can be official that as of today that Radar is off the juice. I have not given him any insulin since July 27.. I started counting the 14 days on July 30 when his AMPS was below 100 for the first time. His numbers are below 100 (on the AlphaTrak meter) most of the time when I test him. He is doing great in all areas of the 5Ps. In fact we haven't seen him doing so well since he was a very young cat.

Do I need to do a curve just to make sure he's not going too high at any point in the cycle?? or is this just me feeling unsure that it's really true?? I've only been testing just in the morning and in the evening before eating.

Congratulations and welcome to the Honeymooner's Club

There's no need to do a curve unless Radar is on insulin. Now that he's in remission, you could check BG #'s once a week. Some go from checking once a week to once a month.

I was still checking BG #'s daily or so till CJ reached her 1 month anniversary. I liked having that extra peace of mind. Now I check once a week unless there are any changes in behavior, eating, litter box issues, etc. If so, then I check more often.

    Wonderful!

I'm testing Abby once a day...then I'll go to maybe twice a week. I'd gotten so used to testing her that it feels weird not to!

That's exactly my feeling, too. Litter box habits and drinking more water are my litmus test, so to speak.

It's really nice not having a strict schedule to follow and insulin to worry about!

    Congrats and welcome!:)
I'm testing Michael once a week until Sept. 5, 2015. If all is well, I will test once a month.

CJ is approaching her 3 month anniversary in a few weeks. I still test weekly, sometimes more often, even when CJ is fine. It's rewarding to see those good, low #'s and I like showing them off to the vet!

Rosa has been off insulin almost 5 months...she's been off insulin longer than she was on it at this point. I still test every week (occasionally a day or so late if we're out of town, but I never miss a week). I figure for the peace of mind you get from that 2 minutes you take to test quickly, it's worth knowing that everything is OK or getting an early heads up if for any reason the numbers start heading up again.
