    Hi all,
My Jubilee was diagnosed in June . After 2 weeks in the 400s she was swithched to Lantus . I'm slowly feeling my way around here . I hope you're able to see her spreadsheet I think I attached ;).

I can see your spreadsheet fine!

Step 1 with Lantus - pick a dose and stick with it for 3-5 full days to let it stabilize. I suggest 1 unit, while you urine test for ketones.

We have 2 sets of guidelines for using Lantus; you'll want to read them over and pick one to follow (you can change later, if you need to do so)
    Tight Regulation
    Start Low, Go Slow

You lower the dose 0.25 units if he goes below 50 mg/dL on a human meter for Tight Regulation and 90 mg/dL for SLGS.

The dose is adjusted based on the nadir - the lowest glucose post-shot - NOT the pre-shot numbers.

    What are you feeding?

    Welcome to the FDMB Robin!!

I know you've been in the Facebook group for awhile now, but I'm really glad you're finally over here!! You'll get the most experienced people helping you and Jubilee here!!

Your link is working fine, but we'd like for you to add some more information to your signature like I have in ours for China and me...Things like name/cat's name, date of diagnosis, type of insulin, type of meter, type of food, any other health problems and a general location for where you live are some of the things a lot of us have so we don't have to keep asking the same questions over and over again. ALSO add the protocol you want to use somewhere (Tight Regulation or SLGS ..Start Low, Go Slow)

Since you have learned quite a bit from the FB group, you could probably just go ahead and start posting over in the Lantus forum

Introduce yourself and Jubilee, give as much background as you can and try to post daily...people will get acquainted with you both and be ready to help you learn everything you need to know.

Again, welcome to the best place you never wanted to be!!

Tiki, BFF, Core, all 1-3% plus leave Young again out for her. I am shooting for the tight regulation. You would drop her down to 1u?

Yes. You've been changing the dose so much, there's no way to know what would be optimal.
You can follow the fast track option of tight regulation based on mid-cycle testing, as the experienced Lantus users recommend. That increases every 2 days if the mid-cycle test is high per the protocol.

Robin...that's where it'll help to add more details about Jubilee....Like I know from the FB group that she was started on a different insulin but I don't remember how high the dose was before you switched to Lantus and I don't know what dose you started at when you switched to Lantus

The more back info you can give us, the better we can help

There's a limit of 2 hard returns, but you can separate the text with | and spaces and don't hit enter.
