Snafu is now on day 9 of no insulin and still getting great numbers .... we still test twice a day and wait for the magic double digit numbers (was 500+) to appear only 5 more days to go and testing can I believe drop to once a week .
A big thanks to all the members who have helped us to get to this point. We could not have done this without you and the incredible advice we have recieved.

The numbers are looking great! It is a good idea to test more than once a week if you notice any changes in behavior, eating patterns, litter box activity, etc.

@Julia Rae In answer to your question, my daughter loves history especially WW2 era and she was in the middle of reading The Pacific when this little street cat had turned up at our back door- over few days we had fed him he would come and go then on the fourth or fifth day when he came for food he was in pain so we were able to hold him and take him to a vet , the vet examined him and he had a back injury as it was clear that some one had kicked him !! on the spot we were asked to name him and place a microchip to register him to us so my Daughter just came out with the name as she had been reading the book it sounded cute at this point I was unaware of the meaning ... only later did I learn the detail !! sorry if it has offended anyone it was not intended

Hi Julia, thanks for the reply, we adopted another FIV rescue after Snafu but Snafu wanted to be an only cat so the new rescue FUBAR went to live with my best freind and her two boys. He is an abandoned Chincilla Persian that was found wandering in 50deg heat in the streets .. with matted coat and cuts all over him so a kind lady found him and he posted on a local web site so we took him in IMG_1475.JPG .

Good Morning All- Snafu is now 3 weeks OTJ I have gone all week without testing him, which was strange after the ritual that had become normal, although we watched him closely and he (Im almost afraid to say) still seems normal. (despite having two foster brothers which he is not too impressed with) Todays reading prior to food was 79 so I think all is good. Thanks for all the help that we received to get us to this stage.

Continued - The white one Star has only one eye and poor sight in the other one. Sylus is the grey & White they were both resuce and have been fostered together previously as they get along fine so I did not want to separate them.

Hi Sharon, its been one week now and they have not seen each other face to face- they are located in their own room and we are trying to feed all cats with a door in between that didnt work as Snafu wanted his food at the regular spot next to the kitchen, so we are slowly slowly working our way up the steps so that they are then eating behind the door - as per Jackson Galaxy video how to introduce cats.... Ive bought a baby gate today and I will put that on the bedroom door and cover with a blanket so that they can smell each other whilst eating and then we can move forward , Snafu has seen then but he hisses at them . I think they would be accepting as they came from a room full of abandoned cats so are used to mixing, Snafu whilst he came to us from the street - seems to want to be the king of the house, but by taking it slow Im hoping he will accept them. Any advice gratefully received ...

I have a lot of cats, but seldom have had to introduce them because they wander up to the house and are living outside for awhile, meeting my cats when I let them out, so by the time they are neutered and coming in the house, they're friends. I have 2 that still can't be kept in the house with the others and they stay out days and in separate rooms at night. It sounds like you are doing a good job though. Will they be able to jump over the baby gate? Hissing is normal, I just kinda yell, 'Hey!' And they stop.

Ahhhh, Do you know Star's history and why he lost his eye? I will have to post a picture of Bubba after his enucleation tomorrow of his right eye, after he is all healed up.

    ETA: Congrats on OTJ!
