Yesterday's slightly overwhelming news day at day 1 at CSU. Thank you to all the wonderful people for visiting me and the kitties of the KTSS for visiting Neko. I think there is a faint smell of lavender in the air.

She started yesterday at a nice low blue, then got half a dose and a lot of stress so today she is up in the rafters. Neko's eyes always look a little buggy when she is up there. Thank heavens I packed the R for this trip.

Neko slept most of the night on the bed with me again. She even asked to be put up there just as I went to bed. :joyful::joyful: She did get up at 5:30 mewing so I lifted her down, even though I have made a staircase from cushions. I thought she wanted to use the LB, but no, for some reason she wanted to hide. After much searching, I found her hiding spot. It is behind the bed, and hard to get to with side tables and a wall nearby. Tonight I definitely will stuff the access with pillows so I can get her to CSU on time. Her yogurt treat got her out.

I am really happy I packed Neko's scratch mat, she is lying on it a lot. It probably smells of home. She is ignoring bulky fleece from home, that took up so much space in the suitcase.

Today we chill and relax. Maybe I'll rent movies for us to watch, though Neko is back behind the bed now. The forecast snow was a no show here, or the winds blew it elsewhere. Thankfully the loud winds have eased too.

I hope the R helps bring Neko down and you can both have a relaxing day. I'm glad you didn't get the snow. Good thing you found her hiding spot now instead of having to search for her right before you leave.

    Hi Wendy,
Rusty really enjoyed the 1950s Disney movie "The Living Desert". I've never seen him so entranced in something on TV. Maybe you can rent it somewhere. Neko might like it, too.
Glad the snowstorm didn't hit you and hope that all will go smoothly tomorrow. Sending lots of vines for the SRT and will be thinking of you.

Neko, no hiding tomorrow! Just think of that wonderful KTSS spa treatment when your appointment is over. The gang is putting the whole thing together already. You're gonna love it!

    Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty (who likes having his scratch mat with him everywhere he goes, too)

most of the hotels we stayed in fortunately filled in that space.....
Shadow's hidey spot was for me to lay in bed, knees up, and she would get under covers and sit on my feet, one of her favorite spots especially
    in a strange place.
My heels would always be sore ,
so nice that Neko is hanging out on the bed..... hopefully she'll take the habit home......
    more scritches
    more prayers

I am sorry for the additional news, but it really does sound like you have a good team there, and the best possible care for Neko. I too would trust their judgment, many positive vines for you Neko. And hugs to you Wendy.

Just getting caught up. So sorry that Neko's decided to be a trail blazer again. Everyone's on target though, you and your girl are with the most compassionate, caring, and competent professionals you could find. Even though the IM's will rotate out, the fourth year students will change, the radiation oncology residents will move on, there's a culture at CSU that expects and gets the very best from everyone. Plus, you've got all the light, prayers, and vines of L&LL wrapping around you both. Sounds like a winning team.

My favorite time in Fort Collins was the time Polly and I could just chill in the room; she'd grab a window look-out, I'd order pizza, and we'd spend the night sitting on the bed watching something on television. The girl liked baseball. Me? Not so much so I'd just cruise through the internet passing time and scritching Miss Polly.

Good luck on keeping Neko out and available in the morning! I'm guessing housekeeping should be able to supply enough pillows to block off any "behind stuff" acess. 'Cept maybe for folded mattress inside the sofa-sleeper! Neko. Be a good girl!

    We're with you tomorrow.

i had to stuff pillows there too. leave it to the kids to find the best hidey hole.

hoping all goes smoothly tomorrow. did they tell you half dose? i was thinking that was just for the morning of treatment. i think you could do full dose other times. but youve got r, and the ability to manage the numbers. so sit back n enjoy the downtime. good luck tomorrow.

Thanks all for visiting. It's been a lazy sort of day. Neko went behind the bed a couple more times, I think it's where she can sleep. I will have to block it off before bed time tonight. There are extra pillows on the chairs and sofa. Now she's back on the scratch mat grooming her shaved legs. Poor pumpkin looks like a poodle. :(

The 4th year student just called and I got a few questions answered. What Neko had yesterday was a 3rd degree AV block, which essentially means something slows the electrical system in the heart, causing it to delay pumping and a slower heart rate. After a chat with Encycopedia Marje today, I feel calmer and that there is a good plan for tomorrow.

With the new plan she will be on her sixth dose back on her regular dose the day we leave, so I hope her numbers will be better. I have the flight times booked in between her regularly scheduled pee times, but high BGs mess with the schedule. I'd rather not have to deal with THAT while travelling.

@Grayson & Lu - we are just doing half dose in the mornings of anesthesia. Neko just gets a really bad case of dose wonkiness. To answer yesterday's question, Dr. LaRue is still here and is the radiation oncologist on staff this week. I was talked to Dr. Yoshikawa yesterday cause he's been my contact person arranging the trip. He was talking to the radiation oncologist at NCSU who came from CSU, not Dr. Lunn.

    Hi Wendy,
I am just catching up on all your news with Neko. Nothing is straight forward is it?!
I am glad you made it safely to Fort Collins and CSU! But sorry to hear Neko has a problem with her electrical system .....I understand completely!!! That is an added worry for you but it sounds as if you have some wonderful caring people in your corner there. Was the AV block there only while she was under anaesthetic?
Very best wishes for a successful and uneventful time at CSU tomorrow...you and Neko will be in my thoughts.

@Bron and Sheba - yes, the AV block was under anesthesia. The odd thing is she had an echocardiogram three weeks ago with the all clear. Sorry you know so much about arrytthmia.

Has the AV block disappeared since the anaesthetic? I know some drugs can cause the AV blocks because one of the drugs I have been put on to control the arrythmiias has given me a 1 st degree block.
I knew a fair bit about arrythmiias before all this, because I did a cardiac course during my nursing career but I know a lot more now unfortunately!

Bron -'I think the AV block was an episode and not ongoing. They were able to proceed with the CT. I forgot to turn my phone recorder on when they were discussing what happened and I wasn't retained a lot at that point.

@Michelle and Mannie (GA) Vanessa - lots of beef in Colorado, should be good on pizza! ~Neko

As we always say....at least you have an answer and a plan.

I hope you are able to rest tonight with Neko cuddled up next to you and that everything goes super smooth tomorrow. We will all be thinking of you and sending great and awesome SRT and anesthesia vines.

sending you all my best tonight, Wendy. Punkin found the spot behind the bed too - perhaps she feels safe there. Kitties do like their hidey spots.

I know tomorrow will go well and you'll have it all done in one fell swoop! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: we'll be looking for your update.

and Yay for the R option to help with those ugly high numbers!

Sounds like it may have been from the anaesthetic drugs if it is no longer there. At least you will know for any future anaesthetics to be aware of it.

please keep the winds n winter storm to bc n the north!!!! echoing the good vibes, vines, light, and prayers for a quick and uneventful procedure. my guess (purely that) was due to the prolonged anesthesia. hopefully the treatment will be brief and you can enjoy the rest of your week while she recovers. maybe you can even enjoy a dip in the pool. i only toe-tested it, despite it being right outside of my door!
