    Murphy 7.17

    Day #22 on Levemir
lowest amps yet on Lev - hope it doesn't turn out to be a high flat day like yesterday :(

Not sure he got 0.75 units today - there seemed to be an air bubble at the top of the syringe but I am not sure - with these small doses, it's really hard to see sometimes. I wish someone would make a smaller caliber syringe so the unit markings could be further apart
Off to vet later for semi-annual checkup

Good luck with the vet appointment.
I'm sure you flick the air bubbles you can out. Some are just completely stubborn.

yes, again, the small volume in the syringe makes it hard to see if there are even any bubbles (despite using 3.0 reading glasses)

I am glad I made the switch as Prozinc was just too erratic. His SS looks better but it's because of the human meter readings. But the wide daily swings are gone, which is good. The one thing I don't like is the tiny doses - hard to see. I hope I can get him settled into a dose soon
So glad to see Dre in blue today!!! Good luck at the vet!

Thank you Carol.... I have been considering a switch if we are not more stable at 1 year which is coming up.... Dre is a early nadir so I know that may change.

have you heard anything about the new 24 hour human insulin (I forgot the name starts with a T)

I absolutely HATE the human meter - psychologically, it is so much nicer to see a yellow instead of a pink, or a blue instead of a yellow but I still prefer accuracy. I got a freestyle lite so once I get Murphy regulated I am going back to AT2. It is clear more and more people want to use the pet meter - too bad more can't be done to accommodate them and determine reading equivalency. But this is just my personal opinion-
I went to a CME meeting not too long ago for general internists (I usually just go to meetings in my speciality) and they discussed several new insulins coming out that are real advances - some last as long as 72 hours with very lax, forgiving windows of administration - but there is also a trend to make human insulins more concentrated (I'm talking U-200 and U-300) think of trying to deal with those doses

I don't think I would like the human meter either--call me anal but it is what it is!
I hope they come out with a more "steady " insulin and better needles!

@jayla-n-Drevon the insulin you are thinking about is Trivago. I hear the commercials all the time. This is the 6th cycle since the temporary reduction to .5u. Looks like the depot might be filled back up and ready to work! Sending lots of good vetty vines for Mr. Murphy.

BTW, I have bubble issues too despite doing all the "tricks" :(

trivago is that hotel website - (with the kinda cute German guy as the spokesman)
the new insulin is Tresiba (generic name degludec) but there are several in the development pipeline (not yet approved) that people are even more excited about - they seemed really great but I think will be too concentrated (all U-200 or higher) to be able to be kitty dosed (unless it can be diluted)

well, let's hope the 6th cycle is the charm - I still think I'll end up having to bump up
and Karen, we all hope for a calmer day for Doodles :bighug::bighug:

Got back from vet Murphy has lost 1 lb since early January - he can't afford to lose any more I so wish he would eat Young Again - that food is so calorie packed He's been in the blues all day - I would be more excited but before I went to the vet I also got an AT2 reading on the same drop I got the 199 reading from- it was 308 on AT2 A brutal reminder :arghh:

IAMs Maximum Calorie is I think the highest calorie low carb food you can buy. 333 calories per 5.5 oz. Maybe you could mix some of that into his current food.

Sorry about the meter advice I gave you Carol.... I really thought it would help you "fit in" to the forum better. I often am mentally thinking about how Wynk is "really higher" when I get nice readings on my Relion.

But I guess I hated the controversy that I faced over and over in my posts and the the inevitable "oh, you're using an Alpha Trak! well the protocols aren't written for that".... To me that was worse than living with the known bias. :(

I know it is hard to hear about how the weight loss.... Wish I had some advice. Just hugs. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Cara hugs right back at ya! I have to say I'm shocked at the marked discrepancy between the two meters I thought it was like 30 points but I've frequently seen more than 100 point spread

Yeah, I think the higher the value, the bigger the delta. It's like
    100 (+30)
    200 (+ 60)
    300 (+ 90)

I'm making that up, but you get the idea.

That's what I thought, but I'm finding it is quite variable and much larger in the 200s -
oh well, we're just supposed to look at trends, eh? Wow I just looked at Wynk's SS - yippee!! so nice to see the blues!!
