Just talked to vet. She meant for me to split the 60 mg cerenia into 4 doses @ 8-12 hours.

Fred seems to be constipated. From meds? Some people use pure pumpkin? He had a BM yesterday that we had to give him a partial butt bath for. Still nauseated. Drooling. And he urinated in his little scratching box. Guess he couldn't make to the litter box or was confused?
I have fed him via e tube 3 times today. Twice with meds.

Yep. I meant metronidazole. (I'm very, very tired; glad you caught my error - I'll correct earlier post for other readers.)

A very good thing indeed, Jayme!

Ondansetron can be constipating. Not sure about the other meds. Is Fred getting enough water?

If you're thinking of using plain canned pumpkin you'd need to introduce it v-e-r-y slowly. Have a look at this site for info:

Just checked his BG @ 279. It's time for his 4th feeding of the day but his ears feel very warm. I gave my thermometer to my neighbors. Isn't Metronidazole an antibiotic?

It is an antibiotic. I know it's prescribed for treatment of GI issues but I don't know anything more than that about it.

Could you get Fred in to your vet for a check-up today? At the minimum I think it's wise to ring your vets to tell them what's happening.

AMBG 183. That's better than the past two days. I talked to vet yesterday. We are taking the GLU issue into consideration with everything else.
I'm worried now because he just peed on my bed for the first time ever and he peed on the couch last night. I've been moving the litter box close to him but I guess he's just too weak. I have a message in to vets office. My BFF is the pet hotel manager there and is also a vet tech. I text her when I need immediate response.
How are you Mogs? Hope you're doing well today.

    Hi,

Metronidazole is an antibiotic with anti inflammatory properties for gastrointestinal and periodontal issues.

Smokey was given it for possible IBD bacterial over growth until the tests results were in. He did not have IBD but pancreatitis. He was on metro, bupre, cerenia for a couple of months before we could get reductions to hold. He never came off the cerenia or bupre, just much smaller maintenance dose.

Not so good over the last few days. Had to bring my civvie, Lúnasa, in to the vets for GI issues. First time since ... Feeling very fragile.

    Sending prayers for Fred.

How is Lunasa? Fred slept in bed with me. I put my yoga pad and old quilt under him just in case. But he used his litter box during the night to pee. I watched him. Still no poop. Giving pumpkin.

Fred ate a little food on his own! Well, first, he had a tiny poop in his litter box and it had a little blood. Then he went to the living room and peed on his Friskies box and then jumped up on the table where he gets breakfast and meowed! This is so good to see. Today is the 2 week mark and this is a blessing! Continuing with treatment. Thank you for the prayers. Keep them coming. We have a ways to go. AMBG 121

He is still taking kitty steps on the path to healing. We figured out today that the kitty collar for the e-tube works best with the velcro on top of the neck rather than underneath.:cat:

Sorry. Poop Q. Since he's constipated and I Gave Pedia Lax liquid stool softener at lunch, should he skip next feeding (e tube) ? I gave water via the tube since I gave him the Pedia Lax. He's not eating on his own. Obviously uncomfortable cuz he needs to poop.
Other than that he's just hanging out on the balcony , sleeping.
Thx y'all! Hope y'all are well.

He pooped on my yoga mat! Yay! Kitty steps. Still having an occasional issue with peeing outside the box. No appetite. But no nausea. He slept with me part of the night....I woke up to the sound of him purring. Heavenly! I'm wondering if I should continue the pumpkin and stool softener until he finishes all his meds (Prednisone), Metranadazole, Cerenia is probably gonna be regular med, and Famotidune. Not sure about Fortiflora. He's been up and around the house more, hanging out on the balcony, but still is weak and tired of being sick!

Yay poop! Amazing how meaningful that is and how happy it makes us! And waking to purring is just the best alarm of all! :D:cat:Sorry I can't help with your pumpkin/stool softener question. Never used those drugs other than Cerenia and it didn't constipate my sugar so no experience.

I know right! Yay poop! From what Ive read I think Ill keep doing a bit of each while he's on all these meds that constipate then see how he does. And he ate a little food from his bowl tonight. Kitty steps. A little every day.

Fred pulled out his e tube today. I was cleaning the tube site when he bolted under the bed and when he came out I saw both ends of the tube. So the vet just removed the souchers and put a staple in. He's been eating on his own more ( and pooping) and I was feeding less via the tube. I am gonna miss giving his meds via the tube. But Im very grateful he is on a path to feeling much better. He lost 3 lbs with this ordeal and I thought I was gonna lose him but God saw that I needed him here! PTL ! Hope y'all are well.

Yes, that sometimes happens. My Mario pulled his tube out when I went out to get bandaging supplies to rebandage the tube-insertion area. Like Fred, Mario was eating on his own then
