Tubby is 18 and has been on insulin for a couple of years. Original vet just did FBG and fructosamine tests and had Tubby on 5 units of ProZinc and Purina DM, new vet insisted on the 12-hour curve. I resisted but after some random elimination incidents I bit the bullet, got the glucometer, and learned how to do it. The result: two curves and this boy may be in remission. I'm still testing twice a day and I know this may not last, but wow what a difference! Tubby is much more active and alert. If you are new to diabetes and reluctant to get into the testing, DO IT. For yourself AND the cat! Geez when I think of what I may have been doing to this wonderful boy (AND the money I spent on insulin and syringes)...I'm like the Claus von Bulow of cat owners. Thank goodness Tubby's bloodwork is excellent so no evident damage to his innards. I've been lurking for several weeks and I appreciate all the great info.

Funny...my husband used a rented wheelchair after a prolonged illness, but as soon as we BOUGHT the chair, he no longer needed it. Same thing for other medical supplies. As soon as we bought them, poof, he got better. So maybe all I needed to do to resolve the diabetes was BUY the glucometer??

28 pounds = two 12 pound turkeys and 4 pounds of sausages. Welcome home.

So glad Tubby's feeling better! Fingers and paws crossed that his remission is permanent. He's a handsome fella, who's his friend?

That is Tubby's main squeeze, Piglet. They are truly a pair, always together. Piglet is hands down the best cat I have ever had. I know she wouldn't eat me if I died. Mimsy, on the other hand, has already taken a few pre-mortem bites. I hate Mimsy.

The dog dials 911, cats go for the eyes. I read it on the inter-net-web-thing so it has to be true! (Used my kompuder!)

I read somewhere there will be a remake of this movie but this time 40 cats will be onboard and they all just had a dental checkup.

I heard an expert in animal hoarding talk about it once...now I keep my distance from Mimsy.

I don't worry when a TV show warns about Disturbing Content, I'm already disturbed!
