    Hi Everyone,
I may have posted something last week, but not sure. Stinky was just diagnosed about a month ago. He is about 11 years old (stray that I adopted so not positive of his age) and a feisty black and white tuxedo cat.
The posts I have read are very encouraging and supportive. I am having issues with getting blood for the glucometer strips (and not ashamed to admit that I am a nurse). I will keep trying, humans much easier....but not as cute most of the time.
    Thank you!
    Gins

Welcome! If you ask for testing help on the main health forum more people will see your post. Here's a brief list to start:
    • warm the ear
    • massage from the base of the ear toward the upper outer edge
    • use a larger lancet such as 26 to 28 gauge.

A cat's ear (why am I telling this to a nurse?) and where to stab, uhm, ever so gently poke him.
ear_01.JPG This is NOT a cat. Do not poke him.

    Welcome :bighug:
I too have medical background and ran into stick issues - and I swear, emotionally upsetting me more than I can remember getting into with children. Hang in there! You'll find what works.
I've had problems and I think most have to do with retraining my hands to cat.
