Fed the usual. He didn't eat it all right away like he usually does. I noticed he did the same on PM cycle yesterday but he didn't leave as much then. He did this before but started eating it all after starting antibiotics for a UTI. Maybe he's not as hungry now that he's in better numbers? I will leave it out for him like I always do. He can eat it when he feels like it.
I'll keep an eye on it and test his urine again. Yesterday was his last day on antibitoics.
His +7 snack is .5oz meow mix tuna & Shrimp again.

    Gave him 8.5 units.

Wow, Chuck always jumps more than a 100 from AMPS to +1. What food is he getting at AMPS?

He gets 4.5 oz 9Lives pate. One of 3 flavors. Super supper, chicken, or chicken & tuna. He's very reactive to food. Chicken breast and chicken baby food would raise his numbers on prozinc. Young again mature zero raised it too (the only time I fed it as a meal-but he ate 3 days worth at once... Tried free feeding and clearly failed)

I think you will be fine but could not give advice, sorry. I am a novice over here. Less eyes on the forum on Sat & Sun.

It's ok. Don't need to be sorry!
I think he'll be ok too. Once the insulin wears off he starts going up FAST. Almost 100 points in half an hour today. With no food.
I'm new on lantus and to these lower preshot numbers! I'm afraid to shoot on a low number like that but probably would have been fine since he jumped so quick anyways.

I'm sorry I wasn't about earlier I would have encouraged you to shoot that 140, as long as you had supplies and could monitor. I am assuming you stalled without feeding, it looks like the insulin petered out and he's on his way up, you should be fine as with Lantus the shot you gave him won't onset for a couple of hours and his BG is likely to continue to rise until then. It's looking pretty similar to the am cycle on 4/7. After stalling for 10 min and with his numbers rising that really gave you confirmation that he was on his way up and you could have shot then, when the numbers start to rise at the end of the cycle they often zoom up as you have just seen.

However if you fed then the number you shot was food influenced and it may be worth being a little more cautious in the first half of the cycle, getting a test in in the early part of the cycle.

Here's an informative thread, post #6 helped me muster the courage to start shooting those lower numbers, though when you first get the opportunity to do it it would be best to have some support from an experienced Lantus member, just to make sure you are not missing some nuance of the cycle, just to avoid any trouble, paws crossed you get the opportunity to shoot blue soon.

"If you wait for the rise to start before shooting, you might be behind before you even get started"
Very true. I never really looked at it this way. I was nervous to shoot because it was the first increased dose so I didn't know if it would last longer or not. I'm leaving the house from +2 til +4.5ish. I'm so programmed to want to be home those hours for prozinc.
Hopefully we will have a blue in the morning and we can try shooting it.

I noticed your starting Chuck on antibiotics he should also be on probitiics. I give my kitty Fritz Slippery Elm Bark , digestive enzymes and probitiics daily. It's excellent for the digestive system. If your interested I buy mine from mountain rose herbs online from Oregon the Dr. goodpet digestive enzymes and renew probitiics also lily of the desert aloe vera inner leaf only liquid. Surf safe CHUCK!

I just got his S. Boulardi in the mail today. I went with this because he has soft stool and diarrhea often from IBD. He never got a biopsy to confirm the dx but the vet said it was ibd after treating with antibiotics for a high wbc and then fortiflora for a month. I suspect it got better from switching half his meals to wet food so he'd eat the fortiflora. Then it got much better after switching to all wet food after FD dx.
The pumpkin helps him a lot. It actually gives him formed stool. (sorry if TMI...I'm not too shy about poo talk lol) I read on the IBD kitties website and a link given to me here by another member that the s boulardi also has anti-inflammatory results so it is preferred for IBD kitties. If it doesn't work I'll look into others. I have acidophilus that I give to my civvie for constipation to try too. He just finished his antibiotic. I'll start the s boulardi this morning and discontinue the pumpkin to see how it works.

Neko made it easy on me the first few times I shot blue and green. She'd zoom up right away. But I also noticed that it meant her nadir was almost the end of the cycle. I wonder if Chuck also likes the late nadirs. It does mean you have to get used to shooting low. And you have to look at cycles differently. Sort of like moving the goal posts a bit on either side of the curve.

The first few times you are shooting low you want to be home for a few hours after the shot so you can see how the cycle pans out and be on hand to intervene should you need to.

Looking good for a possible blue preshot!
I'm so happy with his results! I never expected to see his numbers like this so soon! I hope it continues!
