I'm trying to learn how nutrition and food affect FD. So this is kind of a hypothetical question. I've been feeding 3x daily. If I give her shot (.5 cu) at 7am and her nadir is somewhere between 4-6 hrs is her body using nutrients at it's most efficient sometime between +4 and +6?

I read a post somewhere on regulating with diet but can't seem to get back there. Just curious. Thanks.

In not sure there's a most efficient time that the food is used, but that's when the vetsulin typically peeks. Btw I would up the dose to 0.75 to push that nadir number down just a smidgen.

I don't think the time you feed matters as much as what you feed. As far as being diet regulated.

You want to get the cat in healing numbers as much as possible (under 120) so the pancreas can heal if your ultimate goal is to be diet controlled.

Janet, what can I say. I just read your response and possibly you have seen my new thread re: possible hypo. I didn't see your reply so hadn't messed with her dose. We would both be thinking the low numbers were the result:) I think she's not quite "regulated" yet. Today was not a good day. She started out high at 332 then seemed normal at PMPT and then +2 was 62. Her eyes were dilated and she was ravenous. I've been feeding her and watching her and think we are ok now. Will check numbers again shortly. Really can tell everyone how thankful I am for your comments.

Wow that was a really different cycle. It's not common for a cat to drop 200 points only 2 hours into a cycle. Ok yeah DON'T up the dose. I'LL CHECK OUT your other thread
