    Yesterday's Condo

Yesterday was actually pretty flat. If it wasn't for the one pesky PMPS of 303 he would have been nothing but yellow lol. His +11 is 213 so will know soon if that is a sign of some more activity today or if we are just starting to go lower. AMPS is in 15 minutes.

I did figure out something I was doing yesterday too. :( I have been hurting a lot myself lately, so I need to start really triple checking myself because of it. Had it in my head I had been giving 2.25u, but when I drew his dose last night, realized I had actually been drawing 2.5u. That is probably the reason he had such a wild ride the day before yesterday. Gonna hang me another sticky to help remind me on triple checking what I am giving him. :( :(

    AMPS is 169.

We are starting in the blue this morning. Since it was a steady drop from his +11, will do a +1 and a +2 to get a better idea of how this cycle is going to go. I have a dr appt that I have to leave for right after the +2, but my daughter will be here for testing and monitoring.

Lovely blue AMPS Zeke. Don't beat yourself up about the dose. Taking care of a sugar kitty is challenging enough, and when you add pain to the mix it becomes super difficult. You are doing a great job taking care of your sugar boy. :bighug:

Thank you. I only realized what I had done when I was showing my daughter how to draw a dose from the lantus pen since it is much more particular on how you must draw it then the novolin she is used to dosing with.

My pain is osteoarthritis. After years of dealing with doctors thinking I'm just wanting pain pills, finally got officially diagnosed with it in my shoulder last week. My shoulder is one of my least hurting joints. :( Then to top it off, I can only take tylenol arthritis because of another medicine I am currently taking. Luckily I do go to the doc for that med today so hoping he can either give me something that works for both my skin and my pain, or puts me on something that lets me take something else stronger for my pain.

+1 183. Starting out coasting in the blues. I will be here all day since I had to reschedule my appt. All our flooding yesterday and now it is pouring again today.

At least it was only by 0.25U so don't be too hard on yourself, Meridith :bighug:. Hope Zeke surfs safely for you! Flat cycles on Lantus can sometimes mean excitement is in the next cycle or so ;).

+3 110. We are definitely coasting in the blues for now. :) Now that his drop has slowed, will wait and test again at +5. Will use that time to stretch out a bit and get some snuggling in with Zeke. He loves his nap snuggles.

Glad you realized the error. Make note of it in the remarks on the ss, for posterity.

Today is looking good - looks like the bounce is behind him

    Yep, got it noted now.

His numbers have been doing great today. He even dipped his toes into greens at his nadir! Thinking through tomorrow evening on this dose and then go from there. It definitely won't be more then a .25 increase this time.

That is what I do. I have a stack of post-its tapped to my window sill going back to 11/2016. Every time i change the dose I put the date, AM or PM when I start the dose, the dose in "Units" and what that dose is on the calipers. I do it as much for myself as well as for hubby in case he shoots.

    Nice cycle :D

I have a dry erase board that I keep dosing and food info. I have stickies for keeping track of weight and then I have my weekly sticky where I write down each of the PS and nadir's for each cycle. Then there will be an additional sticky for any other tests we do through the cycle. Lets me do a quick glance how he has been doing for the past several days without having to go to the computer or phone to pull up his SS.

Nice cycle today. And he took less than 6 cycles to get over the bounce. :D By the way, sometimes a lot of flat yellow means an interesting cycle to follow.

One of the benefits of using calipers for dosing is that I could load and lock the dose in. Then it didn't matter if it was me or DH doing the dosing. And if she earned a change in dose, I changed it right then so I didn't have to think in the morning. If you haven't seen it yet Meridith, here is the post on Dosing with Calipers.

Thanks, I might have to look into using one of those. Would make it much simpler. And less chance of doing a wrong dose.

@Wendy&Neko Was looking over the page on using calipers. When you figure out the measurement for your particular syringes, do you just measure from like 2u to 3u to get the measurement for what 1u would be? I have noticed on the relions that they probably aren't very accurate on dosing. I think this could be a good idea and I could just do some premarking of syringes to simplify it.

He ate really well a good hour before his +10 so probably why he went up a bit.

I picked out several "good" syringes, then measured out 10 units on them, averaged it out, and divided by 10 to get my 1 units size. The BD markings were inconsistent, the main problem being the amount of space between the zero line and the top of the barrel. Calipers really helped there.

Ok, so pretty simple to get a set measurement.
