    Hi,

posting here to let anyone interested to know that the Tiki Cat has new line of canned food - chicken based with lamb, beef, pork and quail eggs. The caloric distribution (PFC) or the Phosphorous content are unknown as I didn't get the chance to inquire further. This line is not sold at my local pet specialty store.

The communication with the company went well - I received their email back reasonably fast.

Here is the After dark food by Tiki Cat Catalog 2017:

I wish they'd make a pate....China refuses to eat the foods with "pieces" in them

Some of those sound good enough to eat, don't they?

Tiki Cat makes Velvet Mousse Line - I tried Chicken and Chicken with egg.
Not Pate - mousse... Very velvety, smooth and dense, no pieces, smells very good but frankly : I do not know a cat who isn't sick and who would like it daily... The consistency/texture is more of a baby food - I thought it is good for syringe or, especially with my experience, for the E-Tube feeding... I often mix F Pate with Tiki - works well.

The After Dark line looks like something my cats would love. Unfortunately, by my calculations, they are all over 12% carbs. :(

I will pull myself together one day, shake off my usual procrastinating and write an email to the Co to inquire. I was looking for something with red meats for Ducia and Tiki is known to make low carbs and high protein food. Too bad if your math is good.:(

Well, I don't know about my math skills, which are weak at best, lol, but I used a program that calculates carbs if you enter the nutritional information. I doubt it always exactly correct but I'm pretty sure it is close most of the time. :)

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd put the info here so it can be searched for in the future. I called Tiki Cat and enquired about the Velvet Mousse Chicken and Chicken with egg, here's what they told me:

Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken: carbs 0% phos as fed .23% phos dry matter 1.06%
Tiki Cat Velvet Mousse Chicken with Egg: carbs 0% phos as fed .22% dry matter 1.01%

Thanks, Stacy, for getting that information and sharing it with all of us!

I have been feeding Nutro soft loaf pates lately, they are low carb and a little bit less expensive than the Tiki Cat. They are very soft and smoosh up well, which is great for 19-year-old teeth!

a recent rumor is that the Petco (my home city native) bought the Tiki Cat manufacturing(rights?). I was today at my local one and they haven't heard anything but their newly erected Tiki cat food stand is right up front - despite a reconstruction/ remodeling project being in progress.. hopefully none of it means that the Tiki quality suffers...
    Thanks, Stacy...
but how exactly does it translates into : how much P per 100 Kcal..?:confused::confused: sorry, not scientists at all...used to rely on Dr. Lisa's chart completely...
PS. None at my local Petco ever heard of Tiki Cat After Dark series..I haven't called the Co... - language barrier fear

I would have quality concerns if that is true as well.

I have no clue, I only started to look at Dr Lisa's chart after I came here, maybe someone else knows how to calculate that with the dry matter or as fed value? I was hoping it was a high carb food I could use when I need, like FF gravy but without being Nestle/Purina, sadly it isn't, but passing along the 411 to whomever can use it.

Your written English is pretty great, you could always email them, it will just take a little longer for a response. What is your first language? Just curious.

The Tiki pouches certainly at their usual 0% carbs...Ducia eats it from time to time - whenever they are on sale v. her regular cans...
It's perhaps not only the level of my written English - but rather a combination of being a procrastinator by nature+shy (yeha..I know, right, I do look like that all the time, he he he:rolleyes:)+whenever I got a hogwash I might go ballistic or, on the contrary, feel defeated to the degree of giving up & and let go..deep sigh..
Are you sitting right now? Good, hold on to the chair's arm tightly.. I speak Russian! And no, I am not here to hack the site, promise..:joyful::joyful::D

I figured since I was a mousse it might be carb heavy like gravy, but no. It can be frustrating dealing with these companies. What I don't understand is that they obviously have the info on hand (I called), why can't they be more transparent and just put it up on their website?! :banghead:

Ah, Russian, spasiba! That's the only word I know in Russian besides yes, no, hello and goodbye. ;)

more than enough to have to update your CV - ANY Russian speaking specialist gets A+ treatment now, ha ha ha. How about working from home listening to the foreign conversations? I bet they are in the highest demand by now...

Spasibo is the good word to know in Russian.. and can lead to a friendship and understanding, no conflicts after using that word is possible..

but who cares in the realm of FD we are in, right?
We have our cats to worry about.
    Dear, or dear...
Why do they fight tooth and a nail not to allow the ingredients to be listed in full on their product by Law?!
It's being defeated in the US Congress just recently... - the Label Law, Google it..
If they are transparent, dear, ppl won't buy their sh**ty product, right?
Hills' dry made my Ducia diabetic - I have to doubt about it - can I sue?! - no.. I cannot... So they keep selling...

I have also come to think that Royal Canin/Hills dry helped my Tyler pusscat to become diabetic.

My Petco now carries the Tiki line. I grabbed a bunch of different ones from the After Dark line during Gizmo's last Panc flare. He wasn't eating anything well but did eat a bit of a couple. I haven't tried it since he has recovered (don't like -0- carb). If you have an specific questions I can post pictues of ingredients/cans- just let me know.

We have transitioned from Fancy Feast to the Tiki Cat Aloha Friends line with pumpkin, I truly believe it is the reason Garth's levels have been in the blues and green! I inquired about their dry food line and the carb content is about 13-14%.
