Would really appreciate somebody looking at Sam's spreadsheet. His BG has been really high so I have tried to slowly up his dose. Was getting scared of the high numbers and we seemed to be stuck there. But now he seems to be on such a whack more ProZinc than when things were more settled?

I totally understand the importance of making very small changes. But against that I am off work until next Tuesday so can test him through the day if he does need changes to his dose.

    Thanks for any advice.

Yes, he's bouncing higher but gave you a lower nadir yesterday. You could try reducing to 1.0 u for a couple of cycles to see if that helps. There's no hard and fast set of rules for this. It's a lot of trial and error.

    Thanks for your reply.:)
Was at a lower dose since the 22nd August and all his BG tests were consistently high. Reds am and pm. Scared of I go back to that dose he is just going to stay that high?
He is being such a superstar with all the tests and shots I just want to give him the best chance of being well.
I know it's trial and error and no rules - it would just make it so much easier if there were;)

Couple days late to the party but it looks like he's doing good on that 1.8U dose :)

Thanks Yong. He seems to be settling a wee bit.
I need to work on being more patient!

It's really high in the mornings - maybe that is his pattern. Just get worried how long he can have high BG and not be damaging to him. But suppose it must help that he is getting his insulin?

I know that the doses should be as consistent as possible and seems like he maybe needs more time to see how 2 units goes for him? Or maybe I should have given him longer at 1.8?

On the upside he seems to be so well in himself:cat:

Good so far on 2 u. Those high PSs might just be the way he deals with ProZinc. My guy was like that. The switch to Lantus has helped to reduce the big swings but not eliminate them.

Feeling good is a great sign. It's easy to get too hung up on BG numbers.

Thanks:). I do have a tendency to get obsessed with the numbers and need to remember it's just a part of him and how he is feeling in himself is the most important thing.

I think that I need to stay at 2 u and see how he goes. Feel better that he is at least at a 'normal' BG for some of the time.

I think you should stay with the same dose. There are so many other variables that could cause fluctuations. You do have to be patient and not freak out when you see a high number.

    Thanks -
no I wouldn't be confident to be increasing from 2u at the moment. Wondering if that is too high for his pm shot and he's going low and then making his next morning BG bounce up. I suppose time will tell.
And I am doing my best to be patient;)

Hmmmm...it's a possibility. Could try getting a late night test (I know...not fun!). Do you ever happen to wake up during the night? You could run down and get a test then if that happens...or set an alarm. That might help tell you if you're seeing a low drop and a bounce after.

I'm not the best sleeper so I will get a couple of overnight tests if the morning BG doesn't settle.
Sods law I haven't slept tonight but never thought of it...
