I don't think this is a surprise...for our cats, dogs or ourselves. Back to basics.

Good article. Well written too. The basic summary is that cat kibble causes diabetes and maybe other issues such as IBL.

Another item is not mentioned. In the old days with cats in the barn, they also probably just died when they got sick. They probably did not get vet care. Or if they did, maybe their disease wasn't known.

My great grandparents died in the 1950s. No one knew why. They just got diseases and died, cancer and such. Same kind of deal.

In a recent thread I was wondering about insulin for cats, and when it was generally available - basically in the mid 1980s. Before that, cats basically just died if they had diabetes. Sure there may have been some small percent that got treated. But most diabetic cats probably just "got sick", then died.

Something I've suspected for a long time.

So true. The title caught my attention after cleaning up 3 bouts of diarrhea today. Ick, our poor kitties. I wish someone would tell Phoebe she's a hunter. She's afraid of mice!

For mice - I can get Little Dude to train Phoebe. Before we converted LD to an inside kitteh this year, he used to get them and eat them all the time. What a great mouser. Now at night he watches the backyard from sliding glass window, begging to go get them little mousies!

Lol sooo cute LD. I wish he would, it's ridiculous. She would catch a bird but a Mousie sends her running. I told her she was embarrassing her species.
