Here is what before today looked like:

    10/2
    Meal - 835p
    Test - 855p
    Glucose - 284

    10/3
    Meal - fasting
    Test - 713a
    Glucose - 177

    Meal - 730a
    Test - 755a
    Glucose - 264

    Test - 1015a
    Glucose - 259
    Insulin - 1 unit

    Test - 1145a
    Glucose - 188

    Test - 827p
    Glucose - 56
    Honey on gums

    Meal - 830
    Test - 927
    Glucose - 87

    Test - 10p
    Glucose - 127

So I decreased to .5 unit this morning and...

Here is what today looks like:
    10/4
    Test - 7a
    Glucose - 276

    Meal - 730a
    Test - 805a
    Glucose - 293
    Insulin - .5 unit

    Test - 1020a
    Glucose - 222

    Meal - 12p

    Test - 1p
    Glucose - 339

Do I wait it out until evening to test and administer insulin?
Is is because I gave him midday meal?
Could .5 unit from this morning still bring that 339 down over the next couple hours?

We need more info. How long has he been diabetic, what kind of insulin, any other health issues, other meds. It's good that you're testing and really good that you're here. The questions I asked will be a big help to us. 339 is nothing to freak out about short term, it's the low numbers.

If you click another members avatar/cat thing, then click Profile Page, then Information and scroll to the bottom you'll see how most people use the sites software for their cat. Everything is there, meter readings, type of insulin, what time he ate. That info is a huge help to people that can offer advice. I don't have the medical knowledge right now, just generalizations. As the day goes on more people will log on to offer help.

The problem is not that you gave him a mid-day meal.

The spike that you are seeing could be because of the Glycobalance.

Yep, this is literally his entire history. JUST diagnosed on Saturday. This issue I'm getting at here is yesterday when I gave 1 unit of insulin he tanked to 56 by 8p but today his number has gone UP since I gave him .5 unit of insulin this morning. Make sense?

What do you mean because of the Glycobalance?

Could this be a bounce from those nice greens yesterday? Which could last up to 6 cycles.

Yeah, that 56 and 87 in your spreadsheet - they are green colour coded...healing greens. Which is what you are aiming for. But if there body isn't used to those low numbers they can bounce. I know there is a great description on here for that....

Ah! gotcha! Ok, yeah, I cut back dosage in half this morning after some discussion with others since he went so low yesterday. This is very confusing!

The Glycobalance (I don't have the numbers here in front of me) may be too high in carbs, giving you that mid-day spike.

Yeah, I think it's 14%...I know the goal is less than 10% right? Waiting for supplies to arrive and I'll be making his food, but got the Glycobalance to hold us over...didn't know about Fancy Feast that everyone seems to use a canned go to.

    Welcome to the dance...

So he may run higher for up to 6 cycles. Plus that glycobalance maybe around the 12% mark in carbs I think, so you will get a bump from that. I would not panic...keep posting for advice.
