    I do not know why? No insulin since Thursday. Checking before scheduled shot time. She’s sleeping & eating a lot! Last check was at 10 am - bg 72. Still some diahpoo & not drinking much. Hmmm how long is this suppose to stay & affect their system? Prozinc

    Is this a Somogyi effect? What do I do? Continue with no insulin?

    It would be very helpful if you had a spreadsheet for members to look at.

    Without a S/S I am basing my comments on what you have posted. Prozinc tends to be an "in and out" type of insulin with little or no carry over into the next cycle. If you are getting numbers as posted, in the normal range, then you would not give insulin. You could try a few tests doing a before food...with at leats 2-3 hours of no food...then again about 3 hours after eating. If the numbers are similar ( in normal ranges) or lower after the 2nd test, then that would show that the pancreas is "doing its thing". If you have made any changes from higher carb food (especially dry) to low carb wet food that can make a big difference with some kitties. If the numbers are in a normal range then do not give insulin.

    Just keep on testing and if at all possible set up a spreadsheet with the readings. It makes it so much easier for members to offer advice or opinions when they can see what sort of numbers have been happening.

    No food changes & I thought prozinc was a no carry over too. Can i do ss w/phone? Not daily testing, just watching her behavior. I know.... not good. Hate it. Thank you for the info!

    The S/S can be set up with phone, but I am not sure how to do it. I will tag a couple of other members to help with that

    @Yong @Marje and Gracie

    With running more normal numbers it would be best to test more regularly to get a better idea on whether Baby Girl is staying in normal numbers on a regular basis or bouncing back and forth. Regular testing will give a much clearer picture than just doing occasional spot tests. Prozinc is an in and out sort of insulin, but some people will get longer duration ( which looks like carry-over). This is why regular testing is such a valuable tool for seeing how the insulin is working and what sort of numbers your kitty gets throughout the day, Even with non diabetic kitties glucose levels can fluctuate through out the day, although with non diabetic kitties the fluctuations are much smaller.

    That's awesome! Maybe your cat is going into remission! After 14 days with no insulin we consider it to be remission. Try some canned pumpkin for the soft stool.

    I am an acute anxiety person. I’m getting better - some days... baby is blind. She doesn’t want me messing with her. Bites & fits. A little feral when provoked. Yes - I wish I had no anxiety & a seeing cat. Do ss probably not - more often...maybe. I’m quite proud of myself for sticking her ears (she hates her ears touched) twice in 1 day & 3 days in a row. Thank you

    Except for the 122, those are great numbers!! You should not give any insulin with those numbers. Even the 122 isn't high enough at this point to shoot.

    She's not too unusual there....most cats don't like having their ears fooled with, but usually, if you can find a special treat that they don't get any other time, they learn to accept it

    Yes, but you have to download the Google Drive and Google Sheets apps first.

    If doing a spreadsheet is too overwhelming then keeping a log of the numbers as listed above and posting them for input, will still be helpful for members giving advice/information. With the numbers that you have posted Baby is doing very nicely without any insulin at this point. As Chris said in her post, those are all good numbers and you should not be giving insulin while they are in that range. Very nice!!

    What colour is the blood in the stool? Can you check for dehydration? You pick up a fold of skin in the scruff then let it go. The skin should go down almost immediately. If she is eating wet food every 3 hours, she is likely getting enough fluids. You can always add a bit of water to the wet food to make it stewy or soupy.
