    Good Morning!

My cat Felix there up his food this morning. I gave him his insulin shot while eating. I'm sure it's because he ate too fast. My question is do I give him more food? TIA

Hi Carol, you can give Felix some more food. Many of us feed multiple small meals throughout the day. What insulin and dose is he on?

Agree with Sharon. Feed him some more. I would make sure he has a meal sometime in the next 4 hours for the insulin to work on. If he does not eat, then monitor for potential hypoglycemia.

Prozinc- 3 units. I gave him some baby food. I can only feed twice a day because I work all day.

Thank you. I gave him some baby food. He seems fine. I did a glucose about four hours after his shot and it was 112.

    Glad he’s ok!
Some of us use a timed feeder to give our cats a meal or two while we’re at work and during the night. Glad you are home testing too!

Can you use timed feeders for wet food? Also I have another cat and I'm afraid that Felix will eat the other cats food. Is there anything wrong with twice feedings?

Yes, you can used timed feeders. I don't use them. People freeze the portion, then put it in the slots (frozen).

You are correct to ensure Felix is eating correctly. Twice a day is fine. Most cats like to graze. If you get a timed feeder you can spread out his food. Many cats lose weight when they are diabetic, so it is important to ensure he is getting enough calories.

Great! Thanks! My vet seemed fine with twice a day. Plus she told me how many calories he should have so I've got that covered. He has no problem eating. That's all he wants to do!
