I think I posted this message in the wrong place. Hope this is right.

    Hello again,
You all have been such a big help to me regarding Wuffy's problems with his insulin. I want to report that I have strictly followed your diet advice for him with wonderful results.

After researching the foods recommended by your vet, I settled on Nulo and ProPlan canned food. I took away all of his kibble, [he did not like that], and started feeding him only cans in 4 meals a day. During this time, he has had almost no vomiting or constipation.
He looks better, behaves happier, and has gained 2 1/2 lbs.

He is going to need a new bottle of insulin by Christmas. You all told me I could get it from Canada at a much more reasonable cost. How do I do that? Will I need to get a paper prescription from my vet? What if he has reservations about Canada? I will appreciate all advice on this.

Again, thank you, and Wuffy thanks you.

    Chris

I'm glad to hear Wuffy is doing so well! Mark's is a great place to get insulin at reasonable prices. You could also check the Supply Closet HERE, sometimes folks have insulin for sale at lower prices there.

Thank you, but who or what is Mark's? Can you please be specific? I am very new to all of this.

OK, I looked at the pharmacy website. I also emailed them about price, but they would not give me a price until they received a prescription. Can someone tell me what the price might be for Lantus 100 units/ml a 10 ml vial? I need to compare to my local pharmacy price, which is, of course, very high.

Prices are updated in THIS LINK

A 5 pack of pens is $164.99 plus $25 shipping....that's 1500 units. These are best because each pen holds 300 units....the others sit in your fridge and are usually good for at least 2 years

A vial is $110.99 and only 1000 units....and you usually end up throwing a bunch away when the insulin loses efficacy

If you enter "Lantus" into the search box on the website, the prices will come up for you

Congrats on the great turnaround and the diabetic treatment to Wuffy. That is something to be proud of.

I use the insulin pens too. They are pretty handy, and easy to get insulin out of. Slightly different than a vial. You don't inject air into them since the pen has a built in plunger that moves. As you extract insulin over time, the plunger approaches the pen tip until eventually there is no more insulin and the plunger is "bottomed out".

I think you have gotten the answers about where to get it but you also asked about if your vet has reservation about you purchasing from Canada. There is really no need to tell the vet where you are filling the prescription. They don't usually ask, but I can't see why they mind if you can get the same product for less money

My vet was going to call my script into the pharmacy, but I asked him to write it so I could shop around. I later told him about Marks and he was fine with it. I now mostly get mine from the Supply Closet
