Luke has been being in the 300s when it is shot time. I usually take food away about 3 hours before preshot testing. This afternoon I forgot to take food up and his bg was 309 about half an hour before shot time. I had an errand to run and didn't get to give him his shot until 5:15......I feel terrible about that! His bg was 594 right before his shot. It did come down to 300 a few hours after the shot and is 351 right now. My question is can I give him his next shot at about 3:30 or 4? He is on Novolin and the vet said after shot his bg will go down for 4 hrs then start going back up and this is what I have been seeing with him. I know there were lots of times I would give Bo his shot at 10 hours. Thanks!

What did you do Debbie? I’ve never used Novolin, but since it’s an in and out insulin, if Luke’s BG’s are higher than his nadir, i’d think shooting early would be fine.

His bg was 388 at 4:15 so I went ahead and gave him his shot. He's down to 192 at 6:30. What is nadir??

Nadir is the point in his cycle where his numbers are the lowest.
