Cooper's shots have been skipped twice in AM and twice in PM due to BG test below 200u ...It is not remission as the BG is way up there at the end of the 12hr cycle, so do not have a clue what is going on... The new Vet had me increase dose from 2.5 to 3.0, but I dropped this back to 2.75 as he just not act like he was tolerating the change...are these huge changes normal or a sign to try something different?

With ProZinc, you can give less insulin if his PS numbers are lower. There are two ways to dose ProZinc.....one is to hold the same dose both AM and PM, but another way to use it is to develop a sliding scale for him....Like if he's between 150-200 give X, 200-300 give Y, 300-400 give Z.....etc.

Also, at first we do say not to shoot under 200, but if you're able to be home to test, you can gradually lower that number....Maybe start by shooting a 180 and seeing how he does....then try shooting a 160, etc.

You might want to start posting over in the ProZinc forum too. You'll get the most experienced eyes over there that can help you with Cooper. That forum isn't as busy as some, but you can always post here in Health if you're not getting answers fast enough over there

At first, the no-shoot number is 200 (with human meter), but as you gather data and learn your cat, you can begin to shoot at lower numbers. There is definitely some trial and error, so testing becomes even more important. You shot 3u when he was 186, and you saw that that was too much. So, next time, maybe you try shooting a smaller dose when his number is in that range and see how he responds to that. You have not gotten any PM mid-cycle tests, so it is hard to see the full picture of what is going on with him. You may want to start trying to grab some of those to help you as you have to make more refined dosing decisions.

I agree with you not staying on 3u. 2.75 may even be a tiny bit high since you are seeing the big differences in pre-shot numbers. I might try a 'fat' 2.5 and stay with that awhile to see how he responds... also shooting it when he is a bit below 200 to see how that goes.

Luke is on Novolin N. I am having the same issue with him. I have been waiting until his bg is over 300 to give insulin. He has gotten used to his bg going down after shots but now it is staying high but not quite high enough for a shot. If anybody has time to look at his spreadsheet I would appreciate it!! I just finished entering his 9 pm bg.

Cooper has gone to a Foster home in our area...Nice lady who loves to take care of sick cats. Found her through the help of a local animal rescue organization 'INKAS' ...He is really missed, but due to our age and my wife's declining health , I decided the was the best solution for us and Cooper.
I appreciate all the help and advice everyone here has given...I passed along my spreadsheet and links to this forum to Cooper's new care-givers.. Thanks again for everything.

Oh, I am sorry you had to give him away, but it sounds like you did what was best for him. Maybe we will see his new mommie show up on here. I wish you and your wife the best. Take care. :)
