    Hi,
Silver's numbers are all over the place and I do not know what to do. I was away for a week with a petsitter who could not manage testing so I halved his dose and let her shoot without testing - not the ideal solution but all I could do in the circumstances as I had to leave in a hurry. When I came back he gave me a nice low green as an AMPS but ever since, apart from one day in the yellows, I'm getting pinks and reds. Before, when he was 0.5u I was still getting reds and pinks with the occasional green AMPS to confuse me. I don't know if this is bouncing and therefore too much insulin or not enough. I commute to work so am out 12 hours a day and cant test as much as I would like. I try to get evening tests but I cant manage to stay up late enough to get any decent +4, +5 or +6 numbers so I really am limited to the weekends to see what's going on.

Can anyone offer any help? His teeth are good, bloodwork is good. Only been out of remission a couple months due to some silly vet wrongly prescribing steroids for diarrhea which disappeared on its own after I stopped the steroids (vet thought he had IBD but he was wrong).

I'm at my wits end and I do not know what to do. His ss looks like a skittles factory.

It's probably better if you post over in the Lantus forum, if that is the insulin type you are using.
How are his 5 Ps (peeing, pooping, purring, playing, and preening)? Can you get some more mid-cycle tests in this weekend?

The 5 P's are all normal. I am doing a curve today but it is high - but I don't know if that is high because of bouncing or high because of not enough insulin. I post in the Lantus forum and it gets lost with everyone's daily AMPS and PMPS posting and I never get any replies there.

I understand. Sometimes posting to others threads will get some attention back. Adding the ? icon to your Subject line will help. And bumping your own thread up to the top of the page by replying something to it, even the word "bump" helps to get more eyes on your question. It does look like he needs more insulin, but he could be bouncing. I see he has come down a little. I wonder if you could get a nap in today and maybe closer to PMPS he will have come down more and maybe have an active cycle tonight that would be telling.

I'll try that. I am finding it hard $ to get more testing in too as here in Canada the strips are sooooo expensive. Insulin nice and low priced but strips you'd think they were gold plated. I think he's running high all day tho.

I think another test about +7 or so today, and then PMPS and try to get some in tonight, like start with a +2 or +3, and then set an alarm for a mid-cycle test around +6 would be good. I'm sorry the strips are so expensive there. I know I used EBay for a very long time. It was a lot of work, and patience, but I would set a goal of what I wanted to spend, bid on a lot of items, and would regularly get lucky.
    Good luck with your testing.

It's a hard job, but keep trying.
On the 22nd, when he was 266 at AMPS and 268 at PMPS, that could have been a flat yellow cycle, and sometimes they have an active cycle following a flat yellow cycle. I would have tried to get a mid-cycle test that night. If, he had an active cycle that night, then he could still be bouncing from that cycle. We can't tell since I don't see an tests.
Can you get mid-cycle tests tonight and tomorrow during the day?

Will try and get mid cycle tests tonight - but given what I have seen on this curve - its just going to be more pinks and reds.

I am out a lot at night so evening tests not easy to get either - I have physio or chiro four nights a week. Timing is hard to do. The cats get their mommy time in bed with me at night as I am out a lot.

I can try and get a few tests in tomorrow but I am at church all morning until his +6. I also have to be up at 5am to get to work so late night tests hard to get as I need to get to bed for work next morning. Not very helpful I know. but I am doing the best I can. I do not keep good health at all and so staying up late or getting up in the night not really an option.
