I tested Pepper this morning and she tested extremely high. It was the last strip of the container, so I got a new strip and retested again, and it was much lower. Is that ok?

When you switched to the new container, did you changr the code? Each vial of strips has a code on it.

How much is "much lower"? What were the two numbers?

I guess I over exaggerated about "much lower", the 1st BG to me was "much higher" than what we are used to and I freaked out. Sorry. This stuff really scares me. I assumed the worst.

1st BG was 619 (highest its ever been). 2nd BG taken 2 minutes later was 571.

that's only a 7.8% difference. well within the 20% variance. Don't worry about the number difference. If you want, take the average of the two to put down as the number. 595

I do think you need to raise your dose though. why did you only give half a unit yesterday? Personally I'd raise it to 1.5 units and see what happens. you need to get those numbers down a bit.

Remember, all meters are allowed a 20% variance...that means even if you test the exact same drop of blood at the exact same time, the numbers could be 20% higher/lower

Especially when you're at those high numbers, this can look like a huge difference, but at the lower numbers, they'll be a lot closer together

    20% of 500 is 100....so a 500 could be anywhere between 400-600...a 200 point spread

    20% of 100 is 20.....so a 100 could be 80-120....only 40 points

That's greatly oversimplifying it, but it gives you a better idea

I totally agree that you should go up to 1.5....we need to get those numbers down

I won't give up on her, but I have no help at home when I'm gone 11-1/2 hours a day at work.
