    Hi all,

So Navi’s BG has been a little all over the place. I did a Curve yesterday and it wasn’t too bad. I sent it to her vet and he responded this afternoon to up her vestsulin dose from 2 units to 3. I only gave her 2.4 units (to the 6 mark on a U-100 syringe) to better keep an eye on how she’ll handle a larger dose.

Well, just an hour after shot time she went from 497 to 511! What could be causing this? Someone suggested giving her less, which I tried and didnt seem to make much of a difference.

    Any info is greatly appreciated!

497 and 511 are essentially the same number given the 20% variance allowed in meter readings. Good for you to be more careful in raising the dose. Careful dose increases every 3 days or so should get you to a level where she starts to respond. Maybe try keeping this dose of 2.4 u tonight and tomorrow AM and PM. If she's still high Friday AM, try 2.6 u for 2-3 days and evaluate. Have you read through the yelloe Caninsulin/Vetsulin info stickies in this forum's thread list? They're very helpful.

Thank you! Last night I tested at +4 and +5 and she was at 87 and 86! Loved seeing the green on the Spreadsheet! Tested this morning at +5 and was 180. Think I should still increase to 2.6 tomorrow, or keep at 2.4 a little longer?

Green is very nice to see on the SS but be careful with the increases as you may be increasing on a bounce. 442 to 87 in four hours is a BIG drop. Navi might not be a bouncy kitty as it looks like she still got some blues  the next couple cycles. If she's not susceptible to ketones, then I might suggest holding 2.6 for a bit longer than 3 cycles, like maybe 6, and as she gets more blues and green's in her cycle's her PS numbers should gradually get lower :). Always keep note of how she's feeling too :cat:. I'm not around as much as I used to be but it looks like a bounce started today. Those can take up to 6 cycles to clear, meaning you won't see the true impact of the new dose while she's bouncing.

Thank you for the input! Should I have stayed at 2.4 a litte longer then? Or is holding at 2.6 ok now that we’ve started it? She seems her normal self (with ever tiny increase I make sure I’ll be home for a day or two to keep an eye on things) Just super hungry. Been feeding her two full meals am and pm and when she’s really buggy I’ll give 1/4-1/2 a can. She’s peeing a lot less so I guess that’s good lol. As for ketones, she’s never had them...knock on wood!!
