I don’t know the answer, did the vet diagnose the spot as a melanoma? I will tag @Bobbie And Bubba Her Cat had a cancer in his eye.

Hi there, can you give the exact name of the diagnosis? Bubba had what was called an diffused Iris melanoma. It started off as a dark spot on the iris. When first noticed the vet said that some cats will get these "freckles" on their iris and they can remain harmless ( orange cats are prone to them) however, if they start to grow and or become velvety looking ( as Bubba's did ) it could be an indication that the spots have become cancerous. When I notice this mutation he was taken to a ophthalmologist vet and removal of the eye was RX.

That removal (enucleation) was done in Oct. of 2015. The biopsy of the eye showed that the cancer cells had were contained in the iris and had not moved into the cillary body or any vascular involvement. We hope for a nice long life for Bubba and I hope that you have the same with Marmalade.

Keep up the monitoring and any changes should be reviewed by your vet.

    Hi Mary,
there are several types of eye melanoma in cats - is there a chance you get the exact Dx from your vet?

I hope Marmalade does good otherwise...:)

If the spot is on the iris, it sounds like what Bubba had and the first step was monitoring it for change in size and appearance ( if it get raised and velvety looking ) I hope that it stay a "freckle" and no treatment is necessary.

That's the pupil. The iris is the coloured part of the eye.

Iris is the colored part of the eye. The hole in the middle is the pupil :cat:.

The color of the spot looks the same as in the picture except the spot is the dark area, not the yellow area

How about calling the vet and asking for the diagnosis. If it is pupil involvement, I don't know what it could be.
