Jester's been running a little high over the past few days so, to save a little money on test strips, I haven't been doing a mid-cycle BG.

This morning his AMPS was 195 and I gave him 1U.
This evening, at 11 hours, he's 160 (he was strenuously begging for food and I figured I'd test, then feed him and give him his insulin at 12 hours).

Might it be better to give him .5U or none at all?

I'm still in the learning process on adjusting dosages.

I think you are probably safe to do 0.5.

That was fun - the syringes don't have half units. *g*

We get good at eyeballing doses.

If I had money. I might. But I already have almost three full boxes of syringes courtesy of someone from the supply closet.

Right now my current priority is finding a new and affordable glucose meter with equally affordable test strips on Amazon.

Try getting a cheap jeweller's loupe (e.g. from Amazon or eBay) - can make it much easier to measure doses. Also keep an eye on where the markings are printed on the syringes (the baseline can be quite 'off' on some batches).
