Hi my name is Stephanie, my cat's name is Flash and I live in Canada. Flash is 5 years old and was diagnosed with diabetes almost 1 year ago. He is on lantus insulin, 2 units twice a day. I was giving him dry diabetic vet prescribed food but I am not sure that was the best thing to do. I have been having a hard time stabilizing his diabetes. I recently switched him to a wet food with zero carbs and very high protein and moisture content but I have to order that food online and it is very expensive. Would someone have a good suggestion of food that I should buy for my cat and is available in Ontario, Canada?

    Thank you.

Welcome! I'm in Ottawa. :) Many people on the forum feed their kitty Fancy Feast or Friskies pate style foods. They're not zero carb but most are under 10%. I realize that some people prefer to feed primo types of food but many kitties do well on these grocery store foods. If you want to go that route, Canadian Tire stores have great prices and selection of both.

Thanks for your response! I will definitely look into Fancy Feast and Friskies and see what kind of ingredients are in those :).

My cat was diagnosed in August of this year I don’t know what’s available for you in Canada but my vet told me absolutely no dry food and feed my cat fancy feast classic and Friskies pate I hope you can buy that where you live good luck with your kitty. Once I switched my cat to The above mentioned foods she started doing really well. She just had a check up on Monday and is doing great.
