My Cat mango is having a hard time eating enough Fancy Feast canned food he is used to dry food. If I give him a can of Fancy Feast in the morning and my husband feeds him young again dry for his afternoon meal and when I come home feed him Fancy Feast again and then before he goes to bed give him young again dry cat food would that be okay or would it make his blood sugar go up? I am out of town right now and my samples have came in since I've been away. I will try him on the samples when I get home to see if he likes it but before I order I just want to make sure that it will be good for him, not all the time, but just a couple times a day to get him to eat.

If it is Young Again Zero or the Mature version of it, it does not have carbs, so it will not drive up blood glucose.

I'm not taking him off the canned cat food just sometimes he needs a little jump start to eat. I was putting his old dry food on top of the wet food to entice him which is high in carbs so if I can get this food with no carbs and put it on top for an Enticer it would be great. If it's going to hurt him given him young again dry for meals then I'll forgo that and just put it on top to get him to eat.

Another idea for a topper is to crumble freeze-dried protein treats over the wet food (this has worked well for me). I've also heard that some people use Bonito flakes (? - I'm in the UK so I haven't a scooby about what these flakes are). Some kitties like grated parmesan.

It's just dried tuna....Bonito is a just a particular species of tuna

It's used a lot in oriental cooking

Thanks everybody and happy New Year I do use the parmesan cheese but it's worn off its welcome already for mango. I will try the other stuff if I can find it. Hope you guys have a great new year with your kitties!:cat:

My cat Julie LOVES these. She would eat a bowl of them if I let her. She's underweight so it's the only way I get her to eat. Cc doesn't like them.

Cc gets wet throughout the day as her main food with access to a little young again. She loves kibble so it was our compromise.

my cat has been free feeding on YA and getting fancy feast classic every few hours during day since he got diagnosed (and we even mix EVO dry 8.41% carbs with YA since YA zero alone caused poop issues). After his numbers got lower and he put weight back on, he started choosing to be picky and nibble mostly on dry 3/4th of the day and his numbers are still in low 100's the majority of the time without us having to raise his insulin (could be raised a little but, we have chosen to be safe and shoot for low 100's only) . All cats are different but, i highly doubt YA zero formula will up your cat's BG much, if at all so it won't hurt to allow him to be happy eating YA until he prefers only wetfood IMO (as long as he is a good water drinker that is).
