Chloe started to do another protest pee on the top of the couch, but this time I was close enough to scare her off. Then I did a ketone test before I wiped it up. Negative. Then I cleaned out her litter box. I'm happy her numbers are relatively low. After a couple more cycles, I may raise it to 2.5 u.

Please make sure you get some mid-cycles either at night or on the weekend before you increase more. Her pre-shots are looking good, but you'll want to make sure she's safe.

She's at 520 this morning. I may have done a fur shot yesterday. Anyway, I'll test again at +3, then off to the jazz festival.

@Djamila Chloe woke me in the middle of the night with yowling. I staggered to the kitchen and opened a can of food for her. When I woke at 5:45, the food was eaten and she wasn't yowling. I'll do a BG test anyway, although it will probably be high.
    Sorry I didn't get a midcycle yesterday.
    This morning she's at 485.

Poor baby. It's tough to be that hungry - I think you did the right thing to feed her, and just ignore that high number. I wonder if she went low and bounced? Definitely don't increase until you've been able to get some of the mid-cycles done. If she gets you up again like that, you can try to grab a test while she's eating - might show something interesting.

@Djamila Chloe was hiding under the bed all afternoon. I got her out to check her glucose and it's 488! She's NOT EATING! What should I do? Should I take her to the hospital?
I got her eat a little when I added some water to the food. She's not excited about eating like she usually is. I gave her 2.25 u because her number was so high.
Also, last night, she vomited, but it was clear and frothy.

Yes, if she isn't eating you should take her in and have them do a ketone test. She's been DKA before, so you know that it's not something you mess with.

I'm going to wait until +1 and test again.

Remember that ketones aren't just about the BG number though. She must be eating. If she isn't eating well, please don't hesitate to get her into the vet.

@Djamila Thank you. She ate some more and is acting normally. I'm keeping an eye on her.

6:00 am. 255 bg. I hate to use this expression, but it's deathly silent here. NONE of my cats are interested in eating. Cheddar went into Fuzma's room and ate some dry kibble, but all are ignoring the wet food, 2 different kinds. I'm taking Chloe to the hospital as soon as I get dressed.

Yes, it's another DKA and the vet I liked at the animal hospital retired 2 weeks ago. Chloe was also dehydrated. I was very surprised to learn that she has a heart murmur, but they said it could go away. They want to keep her a few days. I'll go visit in a few hours.
