I have been trying to find an acceptable food that is both low in carbs and phosphorus. I like the Tiki Cat, but it gets a tad expensive. I also like Weruva but have not heard much about it.... I have two very large cats... One is an Acro (Pig) and the other a full Maine Coon (Tail). Feeding them is becoming expensive as Tail eats the same diet as Pig.

I am considering feeding different foods. Tail is perfectly fine on Sheba or Fancy Feast.
Sheba is relatively low in phosphorus, but I would like to see <200mg per 100Kcal... Weruva can do this. So can Tiki Cat.

I feed my girls Weruva Chicken Frick A' Zee. (I tried Soulistic Aromatic Chicken at one point, but they would not eat it.)

I fed weruva bff cans and it worked out well. It is low carb for cc and helped lower my Zimmy's phosphorus levels significantly.

Zim went from 4.7 phosphorus to 3.9 after switching from ff (still ate some ff because he would eat some of the other cats' food) in about 9 weeks. No binders.

Just 'for the record', Petco currently has Soulistic Aromatic Chicken for $14.69 for 12 30z cans (.41 per oz) or $13.59 for 8 5.5oz cans (.31 per oz). Hollywood Feed has Weruva Chicken Frick A' Zee for $26.28 for 24 3.2oz cans (.34 per oz). So, if you want small cans, at least for these flavors, Weruva is actually cheaper. If you want large, Soulistic is slightly cheaper. Both places have free shipping for orders of $49 or more. At Hollywood Feed, you save 20% on your first order if you sign up for auto ship. At Petco, you normally save 10% on your first order with auto ship, but it looks like they have a coupon code right now to make it 20%.

Updating to add that you can sometimes find coupon codes for either company. Also, I know Hollywood Feed has sales sometimes. They had one in December that was great. Petco probably has sales sometimes, too.

I go through a minimum of 330 cans of food a month, and I buy from wherever has the best sale on the foods I use, so I know what you mean, lol!

I've been feeding my cats Weruva wet food for a long time and they love it. I buy a lot of different flavours because Charlie gets tired of eating the same thing all the time and will suddenly just not want to eat a flavour. The lower carb ones are Asian Fusion and Mack and Jack.

The more I hear the more I am thinking that this is a good way to go... Especially now that there are plenty of places that offer coupons!
I never really worry about Pig's appetite. It has always been very healthy, even more so now that the Acro is there... lol. Well, unless there is medicine in it.

What of the Fowl Ball flavor? I found a case of 24 6oz cans on Chewy for 35.88, which makes it about $.26 a can...

The Chicken Frick A'Zee is 45.88 for a case of 24 6oz cans....

Both comparable. Just no coupons.. Lol

I have not bought the Fowl Ball flavor. I do not get anything with turkey in it because Willow is allergic. .25 per oz for it is pretty good though! So, is .32 per oz for the Chicken Frick A' Zee. (I prefer the small cans because they are the perfect size for me to split one between my girls each meal.)

Yes, I was thinking of ordering both before the prices changed. I am just worried if they do not like it. I suppose I could sell it...lol. See, the bigger cans work great over here. Pig cannot really deal with whole meats without getting really constipated (megacolon), so I blend all his foods into a very smooth sauce of food and lots of water. My blender is great, but anything smaller than about 3oz it just can't move into the blades to break down. So, total score on all ends!!!

Thank you for the suggestion and advice! I cannot wait to see how this helps his phosphorus numbers!

I've got an older version of this hand blender:

The little mini food processor accessory is brilliant for blending small amounts of food. I've had it for donkey's years (and long may it continue to work!).

I buy all my food at the beginning of the month - FedEx and UPS must think I'm feeding an entire zoo, lol! Makes the kitties happy, though, I'm never at a loss for cardboard boxes. ;):):cat:

Haha! Now that is something I can relate to! My house is littered with Chewy boxes in various stages of alteration. Lol.. A few months back I had a water pipe but under my kitchen sink and it was GUSHING out like freaking Niagara Falls. Flooded my whole house. I boxed up the kitties and woke up my daughter and took them across the way to my mother's home because, well, water and electricity and all.. The next morning my five year old daughter wanted to see the damage as she was fast asleep even after I moved her. Her first words were "Mom! All your cat boxes are ruined! Guess you'll have to buy more now....." Haha! Little did she know... And here we are. Cardboard castles and all... :joyful:
