Probiotic?

How many of you give your felines a daily probiotic? My cat currently doesn't have GI upsets.

 

Mine does have some GI issues, I was giving him fortiflora but switched to https://www.youngagainpetfood.com/immune---digestive-support-supplement.html it's very inexpensive and seems to work as good as the other stuff!

 

I use Forti Flora for enhancing appetite and help with runny stools if needed and also Dr. Mercola's pet probiotics. Many here have said though that pet probiotics aren't strong enough and they use human probiotics. My cat has IBD and is prone to some digestive upsets. He is also in remission from diabetes for now.

 

One of my civvies has IBD. The only thing that has ever worked to clear up her stomach distress (horrible, unrelenting diarrhea, in her case) has been s.boulardii and Slippery Elm Bark (SEB) used in conjunction with each other, although you cannot administer them at the same time. I think I tried just about everything out there!

 

I have been giving them at the same time.
Why can they not be given together? Where did you read this? How far apart should they be given?

 

Did he like one more than the other? I give mine Fortiflora and they love it but it's so expensive!

 

Honestly, Rufus was at his worst when I used the Fortiflora. Hard to say if he liked it or not, he wasn't eating very well. This new stuff I mix in with his food and not even sure he notices. It is supposed to have a chicken flavor I believe.

There are so so many different probiotics out there, it's hard to say which works better then the other. That's my issue. Now I bought some slippery elm bark too. That's supposed to help with GI issues.

 

I know my cats throw up much less with Fortiflora than without and they're tummy seems more content after eating. I'll have to try the Young Again to see how they do with it.

 

It defiantly helped firm up his poop, now we're dealing with constipation so I took it out of rotation for about a week now. Don't think this caused it, but probably isn't helping the situtation right now!

 

I use Fortiflora. Angel is a picky eater, but will often eat well if wet food is cut into tiny bite sized pieces, warmed 10 seconds in the microwave and then sprinked with fortiflora.
