@StephG @Djamila I received the new vial of Prozinc today. The last few cycles, I was scraping the bottom of the old vial, so I'm not sure I got consistent doses. Chloe just tested 171 on her PM shot, so I was thinking of maybe starting her at 1 unit from the new vial. What do you think?

How much did you end up giving her? You really need to get mid-cycles tonight whenever you start a new vial - especially when replacing one as old as the last one was. It may well be more potent. However, Chloe was just DKA and needs to have sufficient insulin right now to avoid ending up there again. So you need to give her as much insulin as you safely can. If you gave one unit tonight as an intial dose, that's fine. Get a test sometime tonight to see how much of a response she gets from it, and then increase as you can while still keeping her safe.

Have to work today. Very happy with her morning number. I dropped the new vial before I even gave her the first dose. I will only give her .5u this morning and test when I get home about 4 pm.

I didn't get email notifications for this. Sorry.
I hope she's ok on the .5 units today. This weekend you need to get a curve done. Then you can see how low she's going. We don't want her to go too low then bounce too the sky.
It looks like she did really well on the 1 unit overnight. But spot tests around +3 and +6 are a good idea.

Chloe was acting normally when I got home. Around 5:30, she started yowling for dinner. She was in the 300's, so I gave her 1.5 units. I have a bunch of stuff to do tomorrow. Sunday would be better for doing a curve.

You can get extra tests in whenever you have time, before bed is an easy one.
Sunday is probably better for the curve. She might be back down in better numbers... If the 300 was caused from the 0.5 being too small of a dose. If it's a bounce it could take a few cycles to clear.

@StephG It looks like 1 unit is a good dose for her.

@StephG I was going to get a midday test, but when I got home, Chloe started eating her food leftover from this morning. It looks like she might be on a bounce. What do you think?

Sorry, I had surgery Monday and haven't been on much.
I think what you were talking about was a bounce. Shooting 1 unit on a 70 preshot was too much. If you want to shoot that low you'll have to drop the dose maybe to 0.5 units for under 100 but must test to make sure she's staying in safe numbers.
    Keep testing for Ketones.
The only tests that need to be after withholding food are the preshots.
Curve and spot tests can be after, during, or before food.

Hi Steph, I hope your surgery went well and that you will heal quickly. Chloe is doing fine and I will try to get a before bed reading tonight.
