Hi. We gave our cat his third dose of insulin today. He gets 1/2 unit each time. We don’t know what to look for if the insulin is too much. It seems like a small amount but he is less than 9 pounds. He did not seem spaced out but he just Peed on the bed. He has never done that before. He is not crying and does not seem uncomfortable. Don’t know what to make of this.
Could he have had to go so badly that he couldn’t make it to the littler box?
The urine did not have any strong smell to it other than the smell of pee.
I am extremely stressed out by this.
    Any advice?

    Again welcome!

In order to know if the insulin you are giving is too much or too little the best you can do is start home testing, we can help you with that.

What insulin are you giving him?

Insulin is not a medicine so dosing is not quite like meds where you calculate the weight and get a fixed dose insulin needs vary with a number of factors besides weight like what he's eating or if he has some other health issues or stress

The peeing could be related to the diabetes or not, is he showing any signs that her rear legs are week having trouble jumping or walking strange? It could also mean he has an UTI ( urinary tract infection) or just be a behavioral issue.

The only way to know for sure if it's from hypoglycemia is to home test. Could be your cat is too low. Could also be exceptionally high bg. Or a UTI. Or full bladder. If you want to learn how to home test we can help.
