    Hi guys,

Merry is doing great on 3.75u, lots of blues & greens :) But I'm a bit worried about Thursday because I'll be gone all day. My friend is going to stop by around 4:30 when she's done work to let my dogs out, check Merry's BG & give him his snack. I always leave extra food in the morning so he has something to eat through out the day and I always check him around noonish but no one will be checking him mid day on Thursday. He's been giving me some nice greens so I'm a bit worried he'll go into hypo.

I was considering reducing to a slightly lower dose starting tomorrow but I know the depot will still be at the 3.75u dose on Thursday so that won't really make a difference. I could add some HC food to his regular food & leave a bit extra out for him on Thurs to purposely keep him a bit higher. It'll be around +8.5 when my friend comes over. Or I guess I could skip his morning shot on Thursday to keep him safe although that means losing some of the momentum we have going on right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for Thursday based on Merry's recent SS numbers?

And just for fun, he's a silly video of Merry that I took on the weekend :)

Cute video. It must help he can't hear the vacuum. :joyful:

Adding HC is an idea, but it doesn't stay in the system very long. But it does bring the BG higher before the onset. I did it many times with Rex.

If you start with tomorrow morning's shot and reduce some, that will start draining the depot and he should be fine by Thursday

If someone is leaving town, we usually suggest they start a few cycles before they leave so that by the time they're gone, they've already drained it a little so there won't be as much "depot action"

Yes :) Merry doesn't know it's a loud machine so he loves it, LOL!

This was a spur of the moment road trip & it might not happen if the weather doesn't cooperate. We're supposed to get another snow storm tomorrow but hopefully the roads will be cleaned up for Thursday. If not, we won't be going.

So if I reduce to 3.5u starting tomorrow morning that would be enough? I'll also mix some HC food with his regular food on Thurs just to be extra cautious.

ummm yup you’re in Ontario like me and we are due 15cm overnight and into tomorrow with another 5cm on Thursday so you might wanna postpone that road trip!

Yeah I think so...you could always reduce even further if you're really concerned to maybe 3.25

You could also just call Thursday morning's shot a FS and go about your day without worrying about it at all ;)

Yes, it all depends on the weather :) We're hoping to go to Waterloo to visit with Horseshoe Stables. They rescue horses, rehabilitate them & then adopt them out. But there's no rush so if the roads are bad we won't be going.

My friend just told me she's not working on Thursday so she can come over earlier, she just has to take her truck to the mechanic's but as soon as it's fixed she'll come to my house to check Merry's BG so it shouldn't be much later than noon :) And this morning he's 9.2 so if he starts off tomorrow that way too than we'll be fine :) He doesn't usually start to drop until +7 or so anyway. I'll just leave extra food (I always do anyway but I'll leave a bit more) because I know when Merry is going low he naturally looks for food & he's actually gotten my attention by meowing for food when he's getting a bit too low so then I know to check him & that's when I've actually caught some of his low numbers before he got into a dangerous situation.
