AMPS 190. She had a nice run of green last night, and no Karo again, which amazes me. She’s in good spirits, but it’s snowy and rainy outside, will probably be an extra lazy day for her.

Made some egg yolk powder for Toki. I think she will have no problem eating it considering she wanted to lick the pan off while I was trying to pour it in a jar! :cat: Toki is refusing to eat radcat again so I gave her freeze dried Stella & Chewys which she ate with gusto. Go figure, the whole reason we switched in the first place is because they both went on a hunger strike after s&c made an ingredient swap, but now she likes it again. :rolleyes:Will have to buy some frozen s&c raw for her again and see how it goes.

Glad greens were in the picture for Asia and vines that she has many many more greens.:D

I wish my clowder would fully embrace raw (pre mix or home made or home cooked) but they go in phases. And I’d rather they eat than get into a battle of wills with them! The s&c rabbit raw nibbles has been a particular fave for some of them, until they decide it’s time for a change. Go figure. :banghead:

What’s your recipe for making egg yolk powder? Do you also make egg shell powder?

Greens, blues, at this point anything under renal threshold I’m thrilled with!

Asia had some major teeth issues when she was 13 and went from kibble to raw because of it, it was a battle of wills for sure, but the kibble had to go! Toki has only ever eaten raw and I could put a can of fancy feast with gravy in front of her and she will be offended and cover it up with pretend cat litter. They were both doing fine on S&C until they replaced whatever they used for vitamin K with dandelion greens, which looked like black flecks in the food. I’m guessing they were bitter, but both refused s&c after that.

@Bobbie And Bubba suggested the egg yolk powder as Toki has been puking hairballs a few times recently and it’s not something she has ever done. You can buy the powder here, or make yourself and this is the recipe I followed, it was super easy:

Just a weird angle when I squirted it in her mouth, a bit came back out and right in to my eye! I usually have glasses on, but didn't this time, go figure. I was a little freaked out, didn't know if my eye was going to go numb or what, hopefully too small an amount to do anything, but all is good. I ran to the sink and flushed it out as best I could. Wont forget to wear glasses next time! :joyful:

Yes, when s&c changed the vit k part in the freeze dried raw, the tribe nixed it. The ezc home prepared cooked transitioning to raw went very well for several months...then...nope. So, as in Laurie’s suggestions, backed off and have been trying gradually to reintroduce. I get my eyp and ewp from modernist pantry and got some eyp from ezc (food fur life) but I’d like to try making own eyp and eggshell powder. I’d forgotten that Laurie has a recipe on their food fur life site. Thank you.:bighug:

Btw Asia is gorgeous:bighug:And good luck with tonight’s “bupe eye.” ;)

Thanks! It’s a bonus that she’s super cute, but her shining feature is her beautiful soul and personality.

We thought for sure it was a bad batch of food the first time I saw the black flecks and they wouldn’t eat it. I went all over buying up different lots of the frozen raw that were clear of the black flecks. I called s&c and they explained the ingredient change, but supposedly I was the only person to report my cats wouldn’t eat it (yeah, right). I bought a ton of the freeze dried raw batches because I knew the newer ones would have the black flecks eventually and I needed a transition food in the mean time. Well Toki is eating s&c black flecks and all now so I guess we will switch back for her food.

I looked in to the ez complete, I love the idea and I really wanted to try it but... I don’t trust human grade raw chicken as is, they only make it safe enough to be eaten cooked, so that rules out the pre-ground option. I know you can buy chicken breasts and cook just the outside and that kills a lot of the pathogens, but I don’t think I could do what needs to be done to it after (I’m a vegetarian and while I’m more than happy to give my cats all the meat they want, I don’t want to have to mess with it much because there’s only so much I can handle ). The yolk power was super easy. Being as I had to leave my toaster over on for 10 hours, I think I’d make a bigger batch next time, but as it was I had 4 eggs that were nearing expiry so it was good timing.

These minor medical mishaps are almost inevitable. I prefer bupe eye to stabbing myself with harpoon fluid needles, hasn’t happened yet, touch wood, but I won’t be surprised when it does.

PMPS 201. I hope the bounce breaks tonight because we have too many human appointments tomorrow, but that probably means she will save the funny business for tomorrow, doesn’t it?

It is a quick, steep drop, she does like to be dramatic, hopefully she won't bounce from that. :stop: I'm as rested as I'll ever be for a pj party.

But...+4 82, surfing with her regular food! :woot: Boy will I be disappointed if that stops.
