    Hi guys,

Before Gracie was Dx she was on the higher dose of Revolution. At one point she was 18lbs. A few months later she started dropping weight and became Dx with feline diabetes.

I gave in, and bought 1 month supply of the lower weight dose. Now, it's time for her dose and I'm debating on whether or not I could give her half the dose for chubby cats.

It just annoys me a little, as that is almost $100 wasted. Yes, I could donate to a shelter, but can I really not use?
Vet said no and to buy some for the lower weight cats. But, she also doesn't suggest home testing either.

The revolution for chubby cats starts at 15lbs.

What’s the actual dose of active ingredient in mg or whatever unit they use when you compare the higher and lower doses? Is revolution a liquid? Could you easily divide the higher dose down into something equal to the low dose? If so I’d try that.

i have always bought the higher doses and use 1ml syringes with long blunt needle to take out amount stated on lower dosed packaging for each cat's weight..
since needle is blunt, you can use it to apply medication straight on cat and it actually makes applying it through their fur unto skin way easier too.

Revolution is a liquid. I put between the shoulder blades
Skinny cat dose: 45mg of Selamectin
Chuuby kitty dose: 60 mg Selamectin

@Djamila suggested splitting the chubby cat Revolution.

Your vet gives you the higher dose? Even if your cat is under the weight?

Do you crazy cat ladies use shots for everything? Haha. I know it's to draw the correct amount of Rx. :joyful:

    lol kinda.

not sure if our current vet would give us a higher dose version or not for sure since i rarely buy anything from the vets for things are usually overpriced but, he probably would though since he knows i have a houseful. i use Activyl flea & tick so i don't need a prescription for it and can buy whatever size i want but, when i used revolution in the past, i got it from canada and didn't need a prescription for it so you can buy whatever dose version you want.

How the heck did you manage that? I'm going to be doing some research about shipping stuff from out of the country. My good friend just moved to the UK

and she wants me to ship her beauty supplies, special shampoo and a few other goods.

Yes, sorry, I saw that after I had posted the question! I would either call the manufacturer or just give a partial dose, or both. I use Revolution, too; that stuff's like gold, it's so expensive! I buy it from Australia, much cheaper, but it takes about a month to get here. :)

@Sylvie Another Marylander! Yay! What part of MD are you in? I'm up in the northeast corner.

Ok, I'm going to attempt to use a u100 syringe. But, first I want to verify unit dosing.

How would I adjust the 45mg into units? I feel like I'm over thinking this, as I do conversions similar to this at work most days. :bookworm:

i use the ml amount for calculations. the under 15lbs is .75ml per tube, the over 15lbs is 1ml. so you would take out .75ml out of the 1ml tube.
if you want to use insulin syringes, than each line is .01 ml. so assuming you are using u100 30 units syringes, you would have to fill it 2 1/2 times to get the proper .75ml for under 15lbs weight. personally i would just fill it up twice since your cat is 12.6bs but, thats up to you (i adjust amounts some with my kittens & 8-9lbs cats for i don't see why i should be given them the same amount as a 14-15lb cat)..

anyone can do it, there are lots of things needing prescription here in US, or even not available here in US like the wormout i buy from australlia, that can be bought from Canada or sometimes Australia without a prescription.. just have to wait for it to arrive like 2-3 wks on average.
