    Hi everyone!

Dimmu was very tired and stressed last night, hissed and growled when receiving his PM shot. He's always been a gentle giant, it wasn't easy seeing him aggressive like that. Luckily he seems to be in a much better mood today, and the numbers are a bit lower today. We have seen some high yellows since we increased to 2U, should I still increase tomorrow? and if yes, how much?

I think I might have hurt him while giving him his PM shots 2 days ago. I pushed the needle (BD microfine demi 0.3ml 30Gx8mm) all the way in (on the side of his chest) like I always do and he jerked and hissed, the needle came out bent. Maybe I accidentally pricked his muscle? I am a bit traumatized after that and now only give his shot very shallow about half the needle length. And I thought I probably didn't even properly administrate the shot this morning, because there was a drop left in the syringe and his fur seemed a bit wet. How deep under the skin does the needle have go to give a proper shot? I have read the sticky many times and watched lots of videos, but am still feeling super clumsy.

Another thing is he has this bump on his left hip for about 4 or 5 months, it used to be a flesh color/light pink bump, but it started to grow bigger and 2 weeks ago it became red and filled, there was also a black dot on top. We were at the vet and she said it's a cyst. The black dot scabbed and fell off yesterday, and now it's this red bump. Has anyone seen this? He's got dandruff around his lower limb, too.
    Here's a picture.

Here is a post on Testing and Shooting Tips - maybe there is something in there to help. I mostly shot the scruff/below the shoulders. Neko didn't like me shooting elsewherre like the sides.

I think you can increase tomorrow, by 0.25 units to 2.25 units. Great seeing some yellows show up!

I have seen cysts on an older kitty before. I did have them removed from one cat. As for the dandruff, maybe a bit of fish oil added to his diet?

Thank you for always checking up on us, Wendy!

I hope there will be more steady downward movements soon, but am already happy to see some yellows again.

The vet said we can have the cyst removed, but it's not necessary, will keep an eye on it. Gonna look into fish oil, thanks for the tip.

Hi there and good luck with the increase. About the dandruff, my civvie had a really bad case recently . I put him and Bubba on a pharmaceutical grade fish oil that called Lovaza. It's supposed to be the best Omega 3 .........didn't do anything. I switched over to Captain Krills Oil that some peeps here told me about. He has been taking it for one week and the dandruff is almost gone! I am a happy mamma. I got mine on Amazon.

Did this one get rid of the dandruff? I'd be willing to try it if it did as the Krill is pricey and I like that yours is in a liquid pump. I have to pierce those capsules everyday and squeeze out the oil and recently I am always smelling of eau de Salmon.........

It has helped somewhat for his dandruff, but I mainly got it for his arthritis. Pump works well, but I put a rubber cap on the end (rubber from an eye-dropper works well) since it can drip from the top after a few weeks of use

I have always shot Rusty in the scruff, below the neck, because it is so difficult to see skin anywhere else (he has long hair). In the scruff all I have to do is pull up some hair and I can see the skin easily. Maybe this will work with Dimmu.
Good luck with the next dose increase to 2.25 U.

Thank you, Bubba's mom and Bronx's dad!

Both Canna (our civvie) and Dimmu are on omega-3 supplements. Canna is on krill oil. She likes the shirmpy taste very much, I, too, have to squeeze the oil out for her, and can totally relate to smelling of eau de salmon... Dimmu is on green lipped mussels for his arthritis, he is not a fan of krill oil, but I am gonna try again to see if it helps with the dandruff.

I tried Marje's "roll" technique and it helped, but he still hissed and walked away when I started digging on the side of his chest trying to see some skin. I give him some more food right after the injection to make amend, and everything seems to be fine again because he'll wag his furry tail like a samba dancer, but the next time the needle is out, the growling starts. It hasn't gone to the point of scratching and biting, and I am trying my best to not go there. Will definitely give the scruff a try tonight. Thank you, Ella.

All kitties and beans, have a happy weekend!
