This a nice number! It's happening around the time we expect the nadir (lowest BG because insulin is at its peak action). I suggest you get a+ 8 or +9 test in to add data to your SS. So far this dose is looking good but you don't want a nadir lower than what you have today with an insulin like yours. I say that because Novolin can act quickly to drop BG fairly low even from a high pre shot BG level. You've also switched to low carb food so extra vigilance is needed. Just keep posting here and ask for help if you're unsure. You now have your own thread on this forum so it'll be easier to find. :)

With Novolin, Bella is likely heading up, but is it possible to confirm that?

(68 is the take action number on a pet meter.)

When I take his BG in the am and let’s say it’s between 100 and 200 before I feed him do I still give the 4u?

No, at this point you'll only give insulin if he's above 250 on your pet meter. If he's right at or very near the 250 mark, stall without feeding and retest in 20-30 minutes. If he's rising on the second test you can probably give the full dose. Post for help here first though. There are all sorts of nuances about dosing at these marginal levels and over time with more data to go by you'll be able to lower the "no shot" BG to something below 250.

He's probably starting to bounce upward as a rebound from that lower than normal 78. It's common so try not to worry about it. He might be pink or even red at the PM pre shot test.
