I will be in and out this morning, but will keep checking back to see the +1 to get an idea of what he has in mind for today.

    Exciting!

    Nice!!!!

ETA: I just caught up on yesterday's thread and the vet visit. I am so happy that the vet feels everything is healing nicely and doesn't feel his mouth is bothering him. It's always good to check things out when concerned.

He is looking so good and I am happy that he earned another reduction!

I’d get a +1 and 2. Max rarely showed me much with a +1 but some cats do. Keep dreaming. They often come true.

Good point... Looking at Rufus, on 2/20 when he earned the reduction, he was going up at +1 but had started his downward movement by +2 and earned the reduction at +3. So +2 was a better indicator.

I'd still like to see a +1 as well in this case if you can, just in case he was in mid-bounce-breaking at pre-shot. He's still got a big depot to work with, even after the new reduction. :cat:

I have a slight concern that he didn't get all his dose this AM. I don't think it was too much if any. He usually meows before I inject, this time he did as I was injecting, and slightly pulled away. I keep smelling his fur, but sure if I can smell it or not. My brain and nose are playing tricks on me.

Lantus does have a pretty strong, distinctive band-aid-like smell...but yeah, sometimes the nose isn't quite sure what it's smelling, if anything.

Flat start is interesting...definitely grab that +2 Elise suggested!

Oh I know that smell all to well! haha. Well, he get annoyed at me constantly sniffing him, so I gave up. It certainly wasn't much if any.

That 100 was the +2, I slept through the +1. I'm going to get a +3 though, that's when he dropped the other day!

    Such nice flatness here!

ECID when it comes to BGs and vetty stress....many go up, some actually drop (My Trixie was a dropper), some are unaffected. We'll see what Rufus decides to do!

+6 132 , he ate about an hour ago so that's the bump probably? Hopefully no bounce and no partial fur shot this am!

I wish that was the case. I'm wondering if it might be the possible partial shot this am. I'm still happy with it! Look at where 1 week has taken us :)

Unfortunately the nausea is still bad. He'll eat when I bring him food, but he doesn't go for himself. And the lip smacking. Ugh. We have a follow up on March 5th with the internist, so hopefully get more insight then. And he's on 8mg ondan 2x a day! That's a lot!

Hope he gets used to these lower numbers soon if that's the reason for the nausea. What did cerenia do to him? I know you said before it wasn't a good fit but what happened with it?

He's had it I think on 3 seperate occasions and didn't do anything. The last time he had it, he was on it for 3 days. Did absolutely nothing. But, it was at the height of his pancreatitis, and teeth, and right before he was diagnosed diabetic so he was in rough shape. But yeah did nothing for him. And it was super expensive for some reason. I wanna say like $5 a pill or more? The dentist offered me a tab to try again, but I declined because of cost and past experience.

So it just didn't work. My experience with onda and cerenia: Asia got a Cerenia shot at the vet when she wasn't eating much, it did wonders for her (and it lasts 24 hours). Vet sent me home with a compounded form to give her orally, it did nothing! I have no idea why it was so different, but I ended up ordering a whole bottle of injectable cerenia and what a world of difference. It was pricey from what I remember, but it's good for a very long time and it's nice to have on hand. I wonder if you could get a prefilled syringe just to try and see if it makes a difference in that form? I have onda as well, I gave it to her the night the oral cerenia didn't work and it didn't seem to help either. So frustrating.

And insteresting aside on onda, I was on it when I was pregnant and it was new and brand name only (Zofran) I needed to take it 2-3 times a day or life was really bad. Insurance only covered 20 pills a month. We paid more than our mortgage payment for the rest of the one month supply of that stuff! :blackeye:

Yeah the prices on these medicatons yikes! So crazy!

As far as his nausea, I'm guessing it's a combo of lower numbers and the fancy feast. His itching and licking are better, but I really wish he'd eat the rabbit. The dentist said to put out the rabbit only and make him eat it by not offering anything else. I'm pretty nervous about that. I think at this point right now he'd starve himself.

Those cerenia injections were like $15 for 24 hours I think. Way out of my budget. And he's eating ok. I really need to find a job soon, this guy is killing me :)

Oh I forgot. Dentist thinks he smacking lips from sutchers. I don't think so.

What?! :banghead: That doesn't work so well for cats, many will starve themselves, and then they can get fatty liver, shame that a vet would suggest such a thing. Not wise. Good to listen to your gut on that one.

Any luck to mix the rabbit with something he likes and slowly change the ratio? I hope he eats better soon! :bighug:

im not sure. Kind of feel like he's playing me on some of these things. I'm still liquifying his food, and the dentist says he should have no issues eating wet. He does eat dry, but not a whole lot on his own. And I'm serving him his food. Breakfast lunch and dinner. He's got it made :)

I wonder if I can give him pepcid and ondansetron? I know pepcid used to he'll him.

Now that I think about it, the only time he lip smacks is when he wakes up. Hmmm. Maybe that is stomach acid? I just hope it's not pain. Seems like lip smacking is mostly a sign of nausea, but some say it could be pain?

Did you try getting a prescription from your vet for Cerenia and going to Costco? I hear it's much cheaper that way.

Lip smacking is a sign of nausea. How late in the PM cycle is he getting some food? If he goes a long time between meals, that might be the problem. A little late snack might help.

He lip smacks throughout the entire day. He has dry food out all day (I know, I know). The last time I feed him is 7pm for his dose. But he's more then welcome to the kibble 24/7.

Cerenia didn't work the last 3 times he was on it. Maybe I'll call Sams Club and see if they sell it.
