Sorry for being gone so much lately, but wanted to drop in real quick!

Miss China's doing her thing.....reporting for duty every day at the lagoon with just an occasional trip to the beach to give her fur a chance to dry out.

After 4 years of being really lucky and not contracting it, DM has the flu, so it's been pretty tense around here. 88 year old's don't generally do well, but so far she's doing OK and has stayed out of the hospital so I'm hoping it stays that way.

Between me and the director of the assisted living facility, we're able to get her to do 4 breathing treatments per day, but she doesn't like doing them so a lot of times I have to go over there to "convince" her and sit with her while she does it.

Luckily, Miss China's been good and just continues paddling around while mama is gone. Today was a little stressful with that 62 start, but she did great!

Hope you're all having a good Sunday and your kitties are feeling great!!

Hi Chris, I'm so sorry that your mom got the flu. I hope she will recover quickly and that you won't get it! Sending a beautiful bouquet of vines to your mom and I hope she'll do those breathing exercises. My theory about influenza is that if you've been around long enough to have been exposed to (or survived) the big flu epidemics of the past (1957, "Asian" flu; 1968, Hong Kong flu) you have some immunity to those strains. The Hong Kong flu was the same virus as now (H3N2).

    Yo LagoonMeisterin China,
I made it to the lagoon for a while this afternoon, but since then am stuck back in the weeds. You're in charge. Maybe we need to have a beach party soon.

Sorry your DM got the flu, but I guess the law of averages caught up with her. Paws crossed that she continues to fight it off and makes a complete recovery. I'm sure this is wearing on you, so take care of yourself!

Meanwhile, Miss China, keep your pretty little white paws in the shallow end of the lagoon and don't be checking out the shark net. Mama has to keep an eye on your grandmabean!
