Hello, Dante's amps = 72, if at +2, he is >100, I will shoot .25; however, if I come home at 5:30 pm tonight, and his +10=>100, that would mean I would be shooting early, wouldn't that throw off the 12 hr Lantus effect? Is it ok to shoot at +10 hr tonight at 5:30? If his +10=<75, do I wait until +12 test, and then shoot if >75? Thank you for any help!!

I just tested at+2.5=115, I will shoot now...However, is it ok to shoot anytime within the timeline of 12 hours, and does it affect the timing of the next shot, can you shoot in mid cycle and still shoot at +12 hours or only 1x during the 12 hr cycle?? Sorry for so many questions, thank you!

I'll throw my 2 cents in, hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. If you shot 2.5 hours late, the earliest you can shoot tonight would be 2 hours later then normal. So if your schedule is normally 8 am & 8pm, and today you shot at 10:30am, the earliest you would shoot would be 10pm. And then tomorrow shoot at 9:30am. You want to keep as close to that 12 hours as possible, with 30 minute leeway. I believe if you would have shot a reduced does, you could have stayed on a normal schedule.

Given the type of numbers Dante is seeing, I wouldn't shoot any earlier than 11.5 hours after the shot time this morning. Shooting early can act like a dose increase and I don't think that would be safe for Dante right now. Here is a post on Getting Back on Schedule.

Hello Sean and Wendy; Thank you! I wish I would have read your responses before I got home, I was so busy at work and arrived home later than normal and since his +11 BG was 97 at 6 pm, I immediately shot him with the normal dose. I was debating on if I should have shot .12 units this am instead of .25 units... Wendy, thank you for the post, it makes sense as I shot his pm shot an hour too early, it did act as an increase and his BG's were in the green all night. I will follow the 30-minute adjustment tomorrow unless his BG rises as mentioned in the post, thank you both so much for your guidance!

You might want to get the odd extra test in tonight before bed, and leave him lots of food out. Just in case he has a reaction to that early shot.

He's really looking good though. :D

Wendy; Gotcha' so I just tested a few minutes ago and he is at 79; since I only give him wet food, I can feed him some home cooked chicken now before heading to bed, THANK YOU!!!!
