    yesterday

Morning Everyone! Well, Miss Aurora was at 70 this morning despite me NOT shooting last night for her PMPS at 71. I decided to grow a pair and shoot the .25
I'm at work all day. I left a ton of wet food out for them - I hope she will stay flat all day.

    Surf it Aurora!
IMO if you have to skip any more shots I would think about dropping the dose to .1
    She's doing so well!

But Judy...I don't know how to figure out .1 I have such a hard time figuring out 1/2 from the .5 line on the syringe, I have no clue. I don't understand the caliper situation either and how to use that. I wonder if there is a you tube out there showing the caliper and how to measure such a tiny amt? I have a pet sitter coming in 2 weeks when we go away it would be extremely difficult to get her to learn .1
I will have her skip shots if Aurora continues to stay lower and maybe only shoot 1x per day when we're away.

I believe that .1 is just a hair under the top line on the syringe.
Where are you going on vacation?

I feel like that would be empty, I'll have to try and draw that up tonight and see if anything comes out! LOL

Someone mentioned she draws up 1 unit and then counts how many drops are in that unit. Then she can squeeze out however many drops she needs to get to the amount she needs. Otherwise, if you cannot do 0.1u with confidence, try a drop dose? That one is just pushing in the plunger firmly before inserting into insulin then releasing the plunger. That will draw up a drop by vacuum. Then when you inject Aurora, push firmly on the plunger and wait then withdrawing with your thumb still on the plunger.

I really think 0.1u should be better. Just see what you can do in the morning.

What brand of syringes are you using? I have notes on some of the brands and might be able to provide you with mm measurements if you are going to use calipers.
For instructions on how to use the Harbor Freight digital calipers that many of us use, see Marje's excellent description:

Good luck. I sympathize with you. Not long ago Rusty had an 0.1 U dose and I found it very difficult to deal with.

Are you home to monitor at night? Just wondering why you aren't shooting those safe numbers. Yet you do shoot green in the AM and leave out food.

Thanks ladies! I am really kicking myself that I gave her the .25 this morning I’m sure she went low today. I’m nit sure what I’ll do tomorrow if she’s in the 70s I might wait and try on Saturday so I can monitor. I’m using the Walgreens brand short insulin syringes.

This is a new change for Aurora and I work full time I can’t be up all night testing if she goes low.

Sorry, that's not one of the ones I have measured. But Marje's discussion of dosing with calipers tells you how to figure out a dose on whatever brand you are using.

I was thinking that shooting in the evening when you can monitor for at least a few hours, might be an opportunity to see what she is really doing. She could be just surfing greens, but you can't tell. Thank goodness the weekend is coming and you can see what she is doing,

There is a Sticky Note on drawing fine doses with pictures that might help you.

I’m certainly no math genius lol I’ll have to go slow on this. Still not sure what I’ll do when pet sitter is here in two weeks. I don’t expect her to micro micro dose measure so for that week I might have her skip shots if Aurora is lower.

Two weeks is a long way away. One week in all green numbers earns a dose reduction too. ;)

I just checked before bed and she pulled a 53 how is that possible? I just gave her a full can of fancy feast with gravy. She also ate two plates of wild calling that I had left in the pantry for dinner.
