    Titan 2/28.

Happy Furday to all, did not post yesterday but Titan had a great day and even sneaked out to Moose's party (thanks @Moose & Rae for hosting). We cleaned him up and put the lamp shade away before the visit with Dr Becky. Today was a follow up to his pancreatitis DX and we learned a few new things. Did a CBC panel and all came back good EXCEPT his RBC % which showed a drop from 27.9% to 23%. This got Dr Becky thinking it may not be pancreatitis but a Red Blood Cell parasite which can be common and his symptoms would be similar to pancreatitis. She did a blood smear but could not see any sign of parasite but said that's typical. She said he may have been carrying them all along but dealing with them on his own and the steroid he got (prednisolone) for three weeks could have super charged the parasite into destructive action. He starts a course of Doxycycline today and that should show positive results quickly. He has a recheck scheduled for Tuesday. Paws crossed this answers a few questions and puts Titan right. Have a good weekend, Ed .

Oh I hope that's it instead of pancreatitis, that would be awesome. Makes perfect sense the steroids would suppress his immune system enough that they could get a stronghold. Dr. Becky sounds like a thoughtful diagnostician. Don't forget the probiotics with the doxy. Hope Titan is feeling awesome soon! :cat:

Poor Titan. I hope the doxycyline takes care of things. Sending prayers.

That is amazing, good luck with the Doxycycline. Extra chin scritches and bum pats for Titan.

Wow! I hope the vet's diagnosis is correct and that the new med will clear everything up. Go Titan!

There are a bunch, but I use these, Marje recommended them and her vet did nutritional response testing and found them to be superb. I give Asia 1 a day and break it up over all the meals, she hasn't had any diarrhea or any other funky antibiotic symptoms (touch wood) she is normally prone to since using them.
