Realllyyyyyy tired of the bouncing. I need to get my hands on Lev and try it out. I dont know why we have a pink this morning :arghh:

This morning, my alarm went off and I always snooze it once. And i was lying there, not sleeping, and I hear the most pathetic cry. I mean super pathetic. It was Gordy.

I tried to go BTB but I must have slept fairly well and it wasn't working. Oh well.

Question: he has been on this 3u dose for quite some time. What do people think of it? Keep holding or increase?

Good luck with Lev. Maybe check out Teasel’s SS on Lev. He and Gordy are similar. Teasel feels better on Lev and the later onset suits me but his runs of flat numbers aren’t common and I don’t see really long duration as a rule. Mind you, I let his cycles run their course with no food intervention, etc. unless he throws a lime green. In that respect I’m not maximizing the effect of the dose every cycle. These aren’t criticisms of Lev, just my own observations of its “unmanipulated” action in Teasel.

    Already coming down.

Thank you @Kris & Teasel for your input. I do see T has his bounces still, but they seem less severe. (Right?) I remember him being on a trampoline very often when he was on lantus

If you look at my 2017 SS you can see ProZinc (Jaunuary), Lantus and Lev. I also switched from a pet meter to a human meter so that lowered the numbers on my SS. A quick glance over the Lantus data in 2017 shows a BG array that looks a lot like my current Lev data. You'll see, however, that my testing distribution and frequency on Lev (compared to Lantus) changed from 2017 to 2018 as I learned its action profile in Teasel.

Teasel's bounces were/are less severe on both Lantus and Lev than they were on ProZinc. You can see that on Lantus the onset was earlier and I had to do more food steering when he was low by +2. I rarely see any action from Lev before +4 so I don't bother wasting a test strip, daytime or nighttime. His nadir is often around +7 but also at PS not infrequently. Because of the later onset and +7-ish nadir my night time tests require me to set an alarm for 3 AM-ish and it really messes up my sleep. That's why I don't do it every night.

Teasel will have some flat blue runs on Lev and the rare flat green run - on his own. As I said, I don't do any curve manipulation unless he dives to lime green - which he will do out of the blue occasionally. Tiny adjustments in dose from fats to skinnies seem to have an effect and you can see that I've been dancing back and forth in the 1.75 - 2.0 u range for quite a while.

Could I optimize his BGs by testing more and steering more? Probably - but I've been at this over two years now and have had to find a way (to use my often repeated mantra) to keep him safe and me sane. ECID and EBID! (B = bean)

For TR, it looks like you have room for an increase, the greens you are catching are high.

From the +1s you have collected, it seems Gordy gets a decent food bump most of the time, and if that is true today as well, that +2 is a decent drop, so he may have something planned for today.

I wouldn't say Lev is set it and forget it, not for us anyway. I have noticed smoother cycles, but in order to stay in blues and greens, I have to make sure Asia gets food in ideal places to keep her from going too low, and less food in others to keep her from having a high food bump. The biggest game changer for Asia and bouncing was spending more times in low blues and greens. I found the more she got used to them and spent time in those numbers, the less dramatic the bounces were, this was on Lantus. She would still dive on Lantus, though and she seems to have a thing for an occasional and unexplained space missions regardless of insulin.

If you decide to switch, I hope Lev flattens Gordy out some.

Yeah, he has something definitely planned today. The +2 drop is usually a sign for him being dramatic.

He actually just got a tikicat snack on top of the normal +2.25 one... he was following me around, acting like he hadnt been fed in days. I know he is fine, but I caved.

I agree with Stacy that you have room for an increase since his greens have been high greens. However, he may give you green today since we're talking about a dose increase.

Hey now. I gave him another snack. No wonder he is acting restless. Poor guy probably feels weird.

Im gonna take a bath (its already been a long day haha) and get a +4.

    Going up.

I increased. I can always come back down if needed.

ETA he was also super ravenous all day. I haven't seen him this eager for a meal in a long time...

I'll grab a before bed test, but I dont think he'll do much tonight. (Though, he surprises me sometimes.) He is currently snoozing in his fave box. It must be hard being a cat.
