    Yesterday's ???

I am missing yesterday's post...?? I know I posted one in a big hurry before I dashed out the door to work. However, I cannot find it anywhere and my notification from the board were really quite yesterday... I am thinking that my limited internet did not allow the post to actually post... :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Well, nevertheless, we are here today! Pig saw a bit of a bounce last night, but I gave him 1.25uR and that seemed to bring it down. He has been good in yellow, but still constipated. I am a little disheartened that the raw seems to be the culprit. However, it is only the lamb at this point and that is an awfully dry meat, even in this raw form.. I ordered only venison and beef since those seemed to be a little more pliable in a sense.

I cannot tell if it just constipation or if it is the organomegaly. I am a bit concerned about his bladder. He just never seems to be able to empty it all the way and I am more that positive that it is a neuro issue. I am curious, he was prescribed anti-spasmodic when he had his bladder infection to prevent crystals. I wonder if this would be an option to still those butt spasms and help him to release his full bladder contents...??

He will receive a Levemir raise tonight. Tomorrow night I will be raising the R by .25u across the board for the scale. Hopefully we will see some blues soon... and WSU. :D:D:D

    OK, it wasn't me - I missed yesterday's post too. :p

Are you adding water to Pig's raw food? I added water to Neko's raw, a tablespoon or so. And I added pumpkin for fiber. I would talk to his vet about the bladder issue. Something seems off there.

Good luck with the R scale. I like the idea of mid cycle R if you know he's on his way or flat from the Lev.

In your last post, you were worried about travel. Make lots of lists before hand. Book pet friendly hotels on the way. Best if you can get a first floor room then you don't have to haul stuff up stairs. Some hotels have big luggage carts you can put everything on. I liked the hotel we stayed in at Spokane. Let me know if you want the name. If you are interested in our driving trip to SRT, here is the link to the day we arrived home, and you can go back from there.

Yes. I add water to all of his food. If I do not he stalks the water bowls and sinks... Lol. I have tried pumpkin and have not really noticed any help with it. I can try again.

Okay. So, long before he was diagnosed diabetic, I had taken him in because he seemed to be favoring his leg (the one that is gimpy) and I wanted to check about arthritis solutions. This was when we started Adequan. Well, I forgot to mention this "lump" I could feel in his tummy. Now, this was only about two weeks after his last blood work (by a different vet) that came back entirely normal. No sugar elevation or anything. I took him back to his regular vet and she did sonograms free of charge since she missed this mysterious 'lump'. Turns out he was quite literally constipated from top to bottom (poor guy :() and this was why he was not being himself. Makes a lot of sense. Well, as a result, the impaction was making it very hard for him to empty his bladder, thus the swollen "lump" i was feeling. Nothing was cancerous and all his blood work came back perfectly normal. He just could not poop, which made him not able to pee. When he is constipated, his bladder will swell up and it is noticeable, trust me. However, like tonight, if he has been able to empty his digestive tract, then his bladder is quite deflated and you can feel the difference. All of this is a by-product of the Manx syndrome as his digestive tract simply does not function as it should. It never has. Add to this the decreased sensitivity because of said neurological issues in the hind quarters from the very same syndrome and I think, sometimes, he simply cannot feel the need to urinate. Never mind his aversion to litter boxes owing to the arthritis... However, I do tend to agree with you and am rethinking the internist. I am not so sure my vet can do more than take x-rays again...

I agree. My concern here, of course, is the fact that his Levemir nadir seems to be very late. Around the +7-+8 and even some +9's. Dosing at a +6 would only supercharge this. However, if I begin with a .5u dose, I do not imagine there will be a very large impact at all...
Thank you! I am very much interested! This planning thing is overwhelming. Anything will help.

One of the most common times I dosed R was around +10, when I knew Neko was on her way back up. When I said "mid cycle", you could go later in the cycle when you think it'll be safe and the R onset is after the Lev nadir.

Ahhhh!! Okay, so this makes a very good bit of sense. I think I will need to collect a bit more late cycle data to really pinpoint the correct action. He gets a bit of an initial dip around the +4 - +5 time and I can see this as the onset. He runs flat for a while after that, but will often see a good dip around +7 - +8 (sometimes +9). I do not have much in the way of +10 for Levemir. So, if I were to do this, would I continue and dose R with the Levemir? That was sort of what I was thinking when I was thinking +6. Dosing at both times. However, if I dose at +10 and his R nadir is not usually until +3 - +4 then there would be a good chance of R overlap as well as that coinciding with the onset of the L...
