Came down from somewhere above 600. I've no idea what's going on.

Has she had the rice before?

Yes, and that did seem to cause her BG to rise into pink. But this rise was remarkable. Perhaps the rice and chicken has had a cumulative effect?

    okay
    HI (over 600) @AMPS
    440 @+1.5
    252 @+3.25

Hopefully this will drop more at nadir +5 - +6. But , since this is a bounce I am not sure of anything until the bounce hits bottom.

I was wondering if she got a bit of boost from the rice.

She is coming down nicely at least.

Rice is total CARBS...........like bread, pasta, etc..........a no-no for diabetics IMO, glad she dropped a bit

OK. She wasn't eating at all, but made 3 kibble raids, so it was clear she was going to eat something. One of my cats, Bamboo, is allergic to all cat food, so I cook brown rice and chicken breast for her. TTI smelled the chicken on my fingers and tried to bite my index finger off - she's mostly blind, or she wouldn't have bitten. my whole finger. So I decided to give her some of Bamboo's food. TiTI's so thin that I didn't want to give her chicken alone, plus her CKD needs are more carbs than protein.

I sure hope it was the rice, because otherwise I'm in big trouble with my TiTi.

Can I asked why you increased her dose on Satnrday? Just the day before she had gotten to the 50's on a 2.5 unit dose, yet you increased and you also increased by 0.5 units when changes should be by 0.25 units at a time. I think her dose is too high.

When was the last kibble raid?

I increased it because I was giving her rice and chicken, and she had a very successful kibble raid on 6/9 and 6/8.

I believe that I panicked. Also I was unable to calibrate .25. That has been the case all along. The syringe pushes too high or too low and almost never on the mark between the halfway and the numbered mark

I forgot to mention that by increasing the dose by.5, I was anticipating a rise in insulin needs due to the chicken and rice that I had decided to feed her regularly.

That is no longer on the table!!!!!

Tonight I'm going to check her thru the night, periodically. I need to know just how low she's going.

Glad she came down. Kibble takes a long time to get out of the system (or the effects on BG do), but don't know if it would still be there today. The rice for sure, but also could be that wretched Acro....

I wouldn't anticipate increases or decreases. Let the numbers guide you. 2.5 units still looks like a good dose.

The lowest she went on this bounce was 136@+6. . By PMPS TiTi was @Wendy&Neko
This morning's AMPS was really scary. She ate a lot of rice and chicken last night. I was just trying to get her to eat with gusto, which she did, and gain some weight. But Black that only says HI, meaning she's over 600BG is too high a price.

Unfortunately, @Wendy&Neko, I already gave her 3U. I didn't get this message until too late. However, I am hoping to get some testing done thru the night.
???I'm thinking that you suspect TITI went far too low last night which created this huge bounce. Is that correct???

It was a ton of kibble, supplemented by a lot of rice with the chicken. Well, something created that humungous bounce, It could be that the increase pushed her very very low, and that created the bounce. Of course the kibble and riced chicken didn't help. But I just don't see rice and kibble creating this huge bounce

Kibble and rice carbs are temporary. We dose based on how low the dose takes the cat, if they are eating their regular food. Are you thinking the chicken and rice is a permanent change to her diet? We don't change the dose for a one time or even two time kibble raid.

Fast drops can also cause bounces. Too high a dose might cause a fast drop.

Yes, that's exactly what I thought you meant. As I observed today's drop from over 600 to 136, I started wondering if the drop was evidence that raising her dose to 3U caused this huge bounce. I didn't drop the dose down at PMPS because I thought that would cause even more confusion in her depot. Had I read your message first, I would have dropped back to 2.5 or2.75.

I have a big problem with these Walmart syringes. They stick making it incredibly hard to get the correct dose measured, and the tinier the space in between the marks on the syringes, the more difficult it becomes. There's much better syringes, but they cost a lot.
