    Yesterday

Ollie goes this morning for her dental. I gave her less than half the insulin (it was easier to draw up). I have a can of her food to give should they feed her. We will leave in 30 minutes for the 40 minute drive. Thank goodness there are no places for me to turn around. As much as I want this done they are going to have to pry her from me. I have a sign taped to her stroller of meds I don't want her to have. I hope the honor it.

Our town meeting made the news last night, top story and yesterday it made the front headliner page of the paper. I go to every town meeting and last night it was standing room only with people spilling out the doors and sitting on the floor.

Sending dental vines for Olive. And vines that vets abide by the list of meds not to do.

Looking forward to hearing how dental went and the outcome of the town meeting.

She is done and in recovery. That is all I know. When I asked if there was any problems front office told me she wasn't told and that Olive is fine. When picked up Dr. will give me any all details.

It was the public hearing for residents to ask questions and voice their opinions. It's now with the Board of Supervisors who will review everything and they will render their decision at the September meeting.

Good news that Olive is in recovery. Hope the vet surgeon will talk with you directly instead of via go-betweens which can either be fine or frustrating as heck. And soon as Olive knows she’s on her way back home with you, I’m sure she’ll be doing a happy dance, albeit a slightly groggy one.❤️

She's home and yes still a bit groggy, but she ate already.

So severe gingivitis which Dr says we need to get under control. Premolars are fully resorbed. Canines just starting to be, if gingivitis can be resolved Dr thinks they will be okay.

He gave us 1-TDC for periodontal and joint health. Clindamycin AB. Pet essential mouth additive for their water, and tooth paste to start brushing. It is CET toothpaste which I have to look up, it has orbital and glucose oxidase but he says it's safe for diabetics.

And she has a patriotic bandana which I will have to load from the phone.

And I have before and after color pics of the teeth.

My vet gave it to me but I don't use it. I just use a cotton glove dipped in water and wipe his teeth.

Very glad that the dental went well :)

I wrap a piece of medical gauze around my index finger and lightly rubbing on all the teeth I’m allowed to get to. I put the treat jar in front of M before beginning and he tolerates it. Our civvie actually enjoys the process but I started this with her when she was a youngster.

    Good luck!

Happy to hear that Olive is home safe and sound and is eating already!

I use Pet Essential Healthy Mouth toothpaste for Boomer. It comes in chicken flavour (might have other flavours). I use one of the rubber toothbrushes that slip on the end of a finger and he really doesn't mind it; I actually think he likes it sometimes.

PE is brand of the stuff Dr gave me to add to the water. I will check out the tooth paste. I think I have the finger brush. Going to have to look for it.

I went to website and didn't find it either so I thought you might have had something different. And what you have is sugar free? I'm going to call Virbac when they open and see what they say about the stuff the vet gave me.

    I use it for Boomer.
Note: I've only been brushing his teeth since his last dental so he hasn't had a check up since then, in other words I have really no idea whether it's helping or not I'm just assuming that it does. But who knows whether it has anything to do with the toothpaste or whether it's just the friction from the toothbrush on his teeth.

The Dr said it could takes months to allow the brushing. He told me to start letting her lick it from my finger for a few weeks. Then use my finger to rub on gums. Then let her lick it of the brush for a while then use the brush .

Paula, did you find out any thing about Judy's toothpaste? I was afraid to use the CET because of the Dextrose which can raise BG.

I just called CET. The vet technical assistant said since its not ingested and the enzyme breaks it down before it's absorbed it is safe for diabetics. I said I have my doubts because if it's,absorbed in mucous membranes it's going to affect glucose, it doesn't have to be ingested directly. I mentioned they should have their development team work on sugar free product since dental issues are a major contributor to feline diabetes and there are a lot of diabetic cats that need a good sugar free product as there are no products available.

Look above on post #39. I had already checked that brand out before she replied. The toothpaste isn't listed on the website. What they do have listed doesn't have ingredients posted.

Once AB is finished and she is use to the water and 1-TDC which I was told about I think in another group for mobility (Tripper n PJ) I was asking for recommendations. I might give the CET a try and seed if it does affect her. However, today I'm reading how the enzyme makes things work as it erodes. So I don't know. PJ and Olive are drinking the water, if the additive helps or not who knows, I guess it can't hurt though. Since vet charged me for it and I didn't know until after the fact, I'll use it up, I'll be using it for awhile as you only use 5 ml per quart and it's a 8 oz bottle.

Took a picture of the ingredient list on the toothpaste; hopefully it's clear enough to read

Thanks Judy. It sounds healthy. But not available on web though. Will have to see if any vets around here have it.
