    Hi All,

I have 8 cats, and 7 of them are between 10 & 14 years old, and 3 of them have various medical problems, they are all happy, just small stuff and only one cat I give her ringer's lactate subcutaneous.

They all used to live with Shanghai, my Pekingese, he was 14 and recently went to Heaven.

My one cat, now in Heaven, lived for 22 1/2 years.

My 13 year old cat, Miracle, was diagnosed with diabetes a month ago.
    8.7 lbs/Novolin/2 shots @ day/female/spayed

She used to live in front of the water bowl, and now after 1 month of shots she is 85% back to her
    self.
I'm now reading all about diabetes.

Yesterday I made a post in the question section, so I did this backwards, seeing you are supposed
to post here first and introduce yourself.

Thank you for your help and information.

    Best Regards,
    Sylvia

Welcome to the board Sylvia and Miracle. You don't mention if you are home testing so that you can see how the insulin is working for Miracle, and also to keep her safe as you are treating her. There is information here on the board about preventing hypoglycemia and how to home test if you need to learn. It's an important tool that goes hand in hand with the insulin.

    Hi Lou,

    Thanks for the Welcome!

I didn't know about home testing until I came to your board. My vet never mentioned it, (which I will mention to him-LOL).

It sounds wonderful to have first-hand knowledge & do home testing which I will. Over the weekend, I will get supplies and read more about
how to prevent hypoglycemia for Miracle.

    Best,

    Sylvia

Excellent! If you have questions about what testing meter to get, strips, lancets etc, just post in the Main Health Forum.

We use the Relion Confirm from Walmart now, because we can afford the strips better. It's a learning curve, but there are tips and tricks that members use to ease the process and get both Miracle and you into a good routine. Don't hesitate to post for help.
