Hey there, so today I have a pretty generic question. I asked a few weeks back but now I have some pretty solid weeks of green with a sprinkle of blue numbers.

Emmett was all the way up at 7 iu, but not for long. We're now at 4 iu (5th cycle). So I'm supposed to start reducing when I have a week of greens (numbers >50 <100) ...which I think I pretty much have.

Now, what's not clear to me is that if he's scooting along fine in that range at 4.0 iu...with no dips below 50, how do I know when to start reducing? Is it the standard reduction of 0.25 iu every 6 cycles?

ahhh...lol, nm. Does this mean I have to wait 14 cycles ...for a 0.25 iu reduction?

"... try to make sure kitty maintains numbers in the normal range for seven days before reducing the dose further."

The stickie about reductions for those of us using TR protocol talks about reducing anytime number goes below 50 unless your cat has a hard time holding reductions - for Luci (difficulty with reductions)...the rule we use is 3 x below 50 OR 1 x below 40. Looks like Emmett is rocking this dose!

http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/tight-regulation-protocol-tr.1581/ (that's the url for the sticky - most likely you've read it already)...but it's all I can think of to re-review based on your question :)

Oh yes, I totally have that reduction part under control. Emmett loves dipping below 50, even below 40...I think you were on my thread when he dipped to 34. This is more, if he's just cruising along, when do I reduce. But ya, at least 10 cycles is less than 14.

If a cat stays in normal numbers for 7 days (without going low enough to earn a reduction), then you take a 0.25 unit reduction. Emmett is looking good. :D

    Haha...okay. I'm getting to eager. I'll wait the full 14 cycles (7 days...) :(

I did not know that!!! Good to read other posts - learn something every day! Now if I can just convince Luci that this is the way to stop the pokes! :cat: She's all over the place...we've never gone a day or two in the greens...much less 7!:woot:

Hi Rob. Emmett is really doing well! Yes, if he goes 7 days ( 14 cycles) in all greens, reduce by .25 unit. It 's always nice when they earn reductions that way rather than going too low as they stay more stable IMHO.

Cool. It's also good for me. A lot less stress and wondering if he's diving. But Emms still loves just to randomly dive...although hasn't in a few days :)
