    Good Morning L & L ~

Status quo with the Bubster. He has been hanging out by the garden the last few days with me while I have been weeding. I want to believe it's hang time with Momma, but I know he is just waiting for the "catch of the day".

I have reduced his caloric intake a bit to make up for his supplementation in the wild.

Last night I heard his primal cry coming up from the basement and he came upstairs with a mouse tail hanging out of his mouth. There was no way I could get that one away from him. And then he swallowed and it was gone. ugh.....

WTH with these mice in the basement during the summer???? Are we on a mouse mine????? We usually don't have to set traps until the cold starts.........sigh.

Out to the vegetable jungle for a few hours before the heat sets in then back to my condo to let the dryer duct cleaner in. Yesterday was two quotes for the HVAC system. There was a 2K difference in the 2 quotes. I get a third one on Tuesday. Fun Fun.....

    I will catch up later.

Vines to all Kitties and Beans in need.

Nice start for Bubba today. You don't need to set mouse traps with Bubba the mighty hunter around. ;) Good luck with your HVAC.

Looking good Bubster, just slow down on that raw outdoor diet. He sure is one heck of a hunter, mine would only play with lizards.

I used to say the same thing, he is coming to cuddle, how nice of him..... no he just wants to use me for a warm spot

Last night I kept seeing something small and really really fast on our deck. Ended up being a mouse. He ran over, helped himself to a seed from the bird food on the deck, then ran back home. He did this about 20 times. Great cat tv at our place last night!

    Wonderful AMPS Bubba!

Wow, I am impressed with Bubba's hunting skills. Idjit used to catch mice outside, but he would leave them on the porch for us to see (step on as we exited). I don't know and don't want to know if he ate any. I think since our icky dirty neighbors moved away there aren't any more mice around, sure hope so anyway.

Good job Bubba, but you should have spit it out.

We have the mice year round. We have traps in the attic and in basement. In the basement hubby has them up on the foundation concrete block wall. That's where they run around. Cats can't get up there. Hubby has the traps tied to support beams or piles so they can't fall between the walls. Have lost a few traps down there, when they snap those traps do move.

Forrest is doing pretty well.......slowing down a lot. And even eating less but, for now that's okay because that boy was eating the same amount as Bubba and there are 5+ lbs difference between them. Forrest is a almost 13 lbs and Bubba is 18.

His pee pee problem has ..........I am afraid to put it in writing because you know what happens then.......

How are you doing Sean? And how is Rufus doing?

Bobbie , our neighbors cat Socks (who adopted us) was a fantastic mouser like Bubba . In his latter years he only went on supervised outings and lived to be 22. Our HV vet attributed his long life , in part, to his life of mouse meals :bighug: May it do the same for Bubba :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I remember a few years ago discussions about the best diet for cats and it was whole mice and grass and bugs, things they naturally like. They said that was best for their urinary tract health as well.

One good thing about Bubbs catching a mouse in the basement is that maybe he will now think that he doesn't need to go outside to hunt! LOL!

way too busy with work, I do a lot for different schools and it is always chaos this time of year. I thought of Bubba the other day, apparently my brothers cat has found a fondness for snakes. He has left a few presents and brought a few inside to his fiancee's dismay.

Sounds like you, Bubba and Forrest are doing pretty well. I'm sure Bubba is happy to have some freedom again!

NO SNAKES! It took me a while to handle mice, but I do not think I would be able to handle snakes. I asked my husband not too long ago if he ever saw a snake on our property especially the garden. And he said "of course" (there are 5 acres of field behind us) I told him that was the time to lie to me..........

What is it that you do that you work with schools?

Crossing fingers and knocking on wood for Forrest. Glad that part is better :) I'm doing good, busy with the new job. Long commute, but I like the job so far.

Rufus is about the same, not bad, but not getting better. We go for bloodwork next week, and then see his dentist and IM vet on the 22nd. I think I'm going to start him on Budesonide. I'm really nervous, but hopefully diabetes stays in remission and it calms his tummy.

I am glad you like your job. That sure makes a long commute bearable.

Hoping that the BW next week is all good and dental vines being sent. I hope the Budesonide helps his tummy . I don't have any experience with it and sure hopes it helps.

Maybe you need to put Bubba in your car for a bit to hunt the mice out of it.

HA Sina and Jill! I wish it were that easy. This last invasion, the mice got into the wheel well and set up housekeeping ( nest ) and chewed wires. ( the gas vapor exchange wires which set off the idiot lights to say something was wrong) The last time ( when my Rav 4 was totaled) they were living between the metal and the roof lining and had gotten into the airbag system. That's when my insurance company decided to total the car; air bag tampering is a deal breaker. The mechanics hadn't even checked the electrical system yet.

Bubba is trying to keep down the population though bless his heart. I exchanged a mouse for a treat today, again.........

That's our Bubba, the Mighty Hunter! Those mouserls sure are tasty!

We have a mouse nest in our stove at camp. We don't dare open the oven door because of the odor that escapes. I think next year we'll have to buy a new stove. When the family was here for our reunion this weekend we had to tape the oven door shut and post a sign: "do not open under any circumstances". Rusty kept the population down, but the ones in the stove survived his excellent hunting skills.

Ella, I didn't realize that Rusty was adept at hunting as well! :)

Ugh on the camp stove. That is how my totaled Rav started to smell. It was a gradual thing.....I don't drive a lot being home with mom all the time so it got out of hand quickly. Through all this, I discovered that mouse urine is more detrimental to our health than the feces. I always thought it was the other way around.

I think of you and Edward often and it is so nice to see you on the boards. Hugs, hugs and more hugs. :bighug:

thanks, Bobbie! Our camp is well ventilated, so I hope we'll be OK. I haven't been on the board for a few days because we had 12 family members here for 4 days for our annual get-together. This evening we are "chilling out"!
Yep, Rusty was a "rodent man"; he had no interest in birds, but was adept at hunting chipmunks and mice. He would creep forward on his belly an inch at a time until within striking distance. Then he would move at the speed of lightening. He was impressive!

    Hugs and scritches,

Glad you got to spend time with family members. Chill away!
